Hi Having similar issues to everybody else regarding seeing external storage, worth looking at attached YouTube link as it seems approach to data files has changed with new release of Plex. I have followed video with my 2017 shield & wd 1Tb Drive and all is working. IE you no longer click on Storage Location to recognise external storage just leave WD Drive as removable storage after plugging in then on pc add some data files to Shield directory on drive & all is good. My issue now is that my Yamaha CRXN470D Musiccast Server can no longer see my Plex Server but having just switched to Sky Boost Router think issue lies in router.YouTube Video
To confirm a few things (and avoid any misinformation):
- 1.18.2.2021 is the current version on Google Play (for everyone)
- This fixed the startup issue
- This still has an issue (infinite spinner) when trying to migrate to external storage
- 1.18.2.2027 is a version I shared in this forum thread
- This fixes the infinite spinner issue when migrating storage
- This still has an issue with accessing SMB from windows (which we are tracking internally)
I will soon roll out a new version (1.18.2.2029 or higher) that is almost identical to 1.18.2.2027
Lastly, it should be noted that these versions are a little different to those at downloads.plex.tv. They will be back in sync soon.
(Marking as a solution so this message is pinned in the thread)
Hi STSimm1
are you talking about the client Version or the Server Version?
I use a QNAP NAS, and whenever there is a Plex Server update, I need to download it to my PC and then upload it onto the NAS to install it manually. So, I do not get it from google play store or anywhere else, but download it from https://www.plex.tv/de/media-server-downloads/?langr=1#plex-media-server. Usually because my Plex Windows client tells me that there is a newer server version available.
So did I today, installing the actual package PlexMediaServer-1.18.1.2019-c186313fe-x86_64.qpkg. Since then Plex server does not start on my NAS any more. So, I found this thread and hope for a solution. Is there any?
BR, Wolfgang
Hi Wolfgang,
do you still have the previous QPKG? If yes, have you tried to install the old version again, i.e. to downgrade your PMS on your QNAP? If not, I still have the QPKG for 1.18.1.1973 and could provide that to you.
BR,
Alex
Do you know if version: 1.18.2.2029 has the SMB fix?
I’ve not been able to reproduce the SMB issue, so I’m afraid not.
I’m going to circle back to it tomorrow with a different setup.
Hi, this is offtopic. Could you create a separate thread and include logs?
Are some people on here describing this issue I’m having (and have posted about on the Nvidia forums assuming it was their issue)?
I have the same issue, all I can see from my PC now is internal storage but I could previously see the 2 external drives I have plugged in to which I pushed new content. The issue started a few days ago where at first I couldn’t even see the Shield across the network, at least now I can see it but can’t access the external storage any more.
Running the latest build of Plex and the latest Shield update.

Any help much appreciated as I’ve no clue with Android to what to even try.
Thanks,
Nick.
Hi Alex,
I just deleted my previous files. Since you wrote this comment I
was trying to recover them, but without success.
So I'd really be happy if you would provide me QPKG for
1.18.1.1973.
BR, Wolfgang
If you would like to go back to 1.18.1.1973 on the Nvidia shield or any android device you can download the APK here: APKMirror
Cool, thanks a lot. I will try it tomorrow.
BR, Wolfgang
I’ll send you a Google Drive link later.
Same issue, external HDD disappeared. Still working fine just can’t locate them over network.
That’s a link to android packages, Wolfgang is looking for a QPKG, a package format native to QNAP NAS systems.
@wolfsstern_gmail_com shared via Google Drive.
Oh my bad… for some reason I thought this was only happening on the Shield… I will clarify my link.
Hi,
could you please also another question? When I go now to https://www.plex.tv/media-server-downloads/ I find 1.18.2.2029 there. According to Plex Media Server that’s a beta version, right? Or has it been move to a GA release but the thread not yet updated yet? If it’s still in beta, is there a way to choose the GA version on the download page?
Thx for the clarification!
BR,
Alex
Same issue here as well. Running Version 1.18.2.2021 currently.
Same here, when trying to map the drive in Windows it says '192.168.1.XXX exists but Windows can’t find “easystore” ’
Has this new Beta fixed the Hardware Acceleration issues that have been plaguing everyone since 1.18.0.1913 was released?
Take a look at this video might help explain https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yaZkhiEYZFc&t=1223s
