Hi all, me again.

I’m rolling 1.18.2.2031 to everyone. It’ll take a few hours to roll out, or you could grab it from:
[LINK REMOVED - it should now be available everywhere via Google Play]

This includes fixes for:

  • Failure to startup (though this was fixed in 1.18.2.2021)
  • Infinite spinner when migrating storage
  • SMB service

NOTE: 1.18.2.2031 is only available on SHIELD. It’s functionally identical to the current PMS beta, but has a few SHIELD specific fixes.

Thanks for the response on this one… I have tested this out by installing 1973 and making sure I could see my external storage in windows explorer. I then installed 2027 to make sure it was broken (which it was). I then installed 1.18.2.2031 (which is also available in the beta builds but I installed this one) Verified that it did work again by viewing it in windows explorer.

Thanks for the fast turn around on this one. I am also a tester and I know things slip by sometimes… you fix the issues and move on. It’s not about what happens… it’s how you respond.

I just installed today’s release (18.2.2031) and I can now see my USB drive attached to my Shield from PC via network now. Whatever the problem was, it now seems fixed.

Hi Alex,

I just solved a part of my issues: Today I could access the Plex

Sever again and was able to download and install
“PlexMediaServer-1.18.2.2029-36236cc4c-x86_64.qpkg”. Strange thing
is, that I just can access the Plex Server on one of my computers
and not on the other. But since it is the same with my NAS I sure
this is not a Plex Issue.
So, thanks for your time and help.

After installing 1.18.2.2029 on Ubuntu Server 18.04
I noticied 2 things
1- Still telling me that an update is available
2- Server Update Channel is unknown and unable to change

Are there known issues with installing the update? Whenever I try to update from Server Version#: 1.18.1.1973 to 1.18.2.2031 it hangs on “Installing” and never finishes the update.

The Shield eventually locks up and needs to be power cycled in order to actually work again.

Not much comfort to you but update installed OK for me on my Shield Pro 2017. Good luck getting it sorted … Plex is becoming a bit of a minefield lately.

I have the same problem when i try to update it starts and then the screen goes black and i have to powercycle. But my current version is 1.16.4.1469

I have resolved my problem with Yamaha CRXN470D Musiccast Server no longer seeing my NVidia Shield & wd 1Tb USB Drive. Needed to enable DLNS in my Plex Server Configuration so it can see UPNP devices on my new Sky SR203 Router

After a week away im on 2031 and cannot start my server either (nvidia shield )

I did some tests on my 2 16GB Shields (that I use for testing) and was able to upgrade to 2031 from 1973 and they both started the server just fine. I am at a loss as to why your machines wouldn’t start at this point. I think at this point, you need to go in the plex client on the shield and enable Network logging. This should give you a link to go to to see the logs and then try to start the server and allow it to fail and then refresh that logging page to see the results and then post them here.

Hello all.
First time posting since I can usually figure some simple things out just lurking around.
I also cannot get the server to start on my shield (2017 version). I, like many, uninstalled updates on both plex app and server.
My main issue is that it tells me that the setup failed when it tries to setup the server. After viewing videos on youtube, I noticed I don’t get asked if I want to give permission to access external storage right before it says its ready to setup the server.
Any ideas? And I don’t mind starting all over. Just want to be able to get it working again. Thanks.

uninstalled all updates. updated to 1973 all ok. upgrade to 2031 and external drive not writable again. is the smb issue fixed in 2031 ?

ok i;ll wait for 2058 on monday and report back

My shield just updated to 2031, and now there is no server found. Not even a localhost like sometimes happens after rebooting.
