Plex 1.16.2 Unable to load DVRs after 1 July, hangs when trying to add new DVR

I am trying to navigate to https://app.plex.tv/desktop#!/settings/server//manage/dvr
It takes a long long time

If it loads, then post the logs after you set it up. If it doesn’t load, the logs from then would also help!

This seemed to work for me, thank you!

Version 1.16.2.1321 on Windows Server. Unable to Load DVR Message.
I tried the “Shield” Method mentioned above and it seems to be working. I rebooted my Plex Server, the DVR / Tuner Showed up but would eventually go away. So I rebooted and as soon as it showed up I deleted the Tuner than immediately readded it and it seems to be working.

Version 1.16.3.1402 Linux PMS running on Ubuntu 18.10. Unable to Load DVR.

I tried numerous solutions from this post and one of the others listed earlier up. @D1Vad’s solution/notes finally got me back up and running. Refreshing the EPG has been very, very slow. I’ve finally hit 1% after 30 minutes, but it is still working and I’ve been able to tune channels.

Thank you D1Vad

The same issues as above…
Thanks…D1Vad

Wait… What? The did I see the builtin EPGwas removed?

I downgraded to 1.15.8.1198-eadbcbb45 (I never downloaded any of the 1.16.0.xxx so this was the last before it broke I had)

My DVR’s show once again but I have no guide data.

Do you still need someone to test things out on? I have not deleted the DVR’s.

Even after updating the guide it is still empty using the old version (1.15.8.1198-eadbcbb45).
Here are my DVR’s.

Mine just messed up… I just updated it a week ago and it was working then stopped the other night. I am running unraid and I was able to get the Live TV to work.

Only thing I found to help was I had to restart the docker (PMS) and go straight to settings and Live TV. Remove DVR and reset it back up. Once I did, It started working again…

Not sure if that is helpful to everyone, but it sure helped my system… I hope they get these bugs fixed. But when you live on the cutting edge, you get cut once in a while…

I was able to fix this on my Mac without rolling back. I tried a bunch of stuff like deleting my DVRs (I have 2 HD Homeruns). Plex would report the DVRs gone, I’d start to add one back and it would hang again adding that one.

Among my fix attempts I also updated to the beta channel, I don’t think this fix requires that but can’t swear to it.

Currently my Plex is running: 1.16.3.1433 on a Mac running macOS Mojave 10.14.6
My fix:

  • Stop Plex Media Server from the menu bar icon
  • Open the Plex databases folder in the user’s Library:
    • ~/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-in Support/Databases
    • in there were 3 files:
      • tv.plex.providers.epg.cloud.[SOME HUGE HEX NUMBER].db
      • tv.plex.providers.epg.cloud.[SOME HUGE HEX NUMBER].db-shm
      • tv.plex.providers.epg.cloud.[SOME HUGE HEX NUMBER].db-wal
    • I moved all 3 of those files into a folder on my desktop (just in case)
  • Restart Plex Media Server
  • Open Plex
  • If you’ve deleted your DVRs add them back and they should work, if your DVRs are still there it should start re-downloading the guide (and actually working)

Note that the Library folder is hidden in Mac Finder. To get to it, open a finder window, go to the Go menu, select Go to Folder… Type ~/Library in the dialog an click Go.

This Works! @D1Vad

Reboot, Quickly remove whole (Old) DVR, add DVR again.

Thanks!

Just notified of update1.16.3.1433 with release notes

ITEMS FIXED:

(LiveTV) Temporarily disable signal strength updates. This reduces pixelation with some tuners.

Unbelievable.

How about an update that reads

ITEMS FIXED:

(LiveTV) Permanently disables completely. This eliminates functionality with all tuners.

Agree 1.16.3.1433 does nothing for this issue. Retested on this version, symptoms identical, no change.

Live DVR recording feature now totally non-functional with any version of Server from 1.16.0.x onwards.

… Feature outage of 27 days and counting …

Can I confirm, the magic word is to quickly remove the existing DVR’s and then add them again. My problem was that it took me too long to remove the DVR’s. Then it worked fine. Thanks!

I bit the bullet. Rolled back to prior release before 1.16, deleted DVR’s upgraded and re-added DVR’s. Everything seems to be working fine.

After several weeks of being too lazy to uninstall and reinstall, I can confirm that shutting plex down, restarting and the quickly going to the DVR settings page to delete them works on windows!

I restarted plex again for luck (just the app, no need to do windows), and then could add my tuners again. The guide is populating now, and already has most of the right channels/programmes for my region (UK).

Thanks to all posters.

Sweet baby Jesus on a bicycle, why does Plex suck soooooooo much? Yes, the restart-quickly-delete-tuners-and-add-back trick worked for me too. But seriously? Why???
