I’ve recently encountered this problem when the player just forces the ENG subtitles.
To be more specific, I’ve got some animes and they usually have few subtitles included inside their mkv container, but I also have external .ass subtitles in my language (named obviously correctly same as the episode file name) and I do have the external subtitles chosen to be displayed in player, but the player still displays these English ones from inside the container despite they are not chosen… I tried to switch between ones that are available to somehow “wake the player up” but nothing really changed.
