Please get some diagnostics, ensure debug logging enabled on the server. Settings / server / general / show advanced
When problem arises, open the remote access server settings page, leave the browser on this screen for few minutes and then capture the server logs and attach the zip
That is consistent with the infrastructure issue I mentioned that was identified yesterday and fixed - there were delays in processing of connectivity tests that were leading to loss of server remote access info. If there are still problems, I would like to see logs from the server.
Run with debug logging enabled on the server - see my earlier posts
Relaunch the server.
When remote access drops out, open the plex web remote access settings page.
If problem remains after ensuring remote access is enabled and leaving the settings page on the remote access page for few minutes, then download the server logs zip and attach here
Yes there is an acknowledged timing issue that may lead to the status being inaccurate. Often resolved by refreshing the remote access server setting web page by pressing F5
Same issue here. I’m on Spectrum Gigabit internet using their equipment. I updated PLEX and this issue started while it was working perfectly fine before the update. I have port forwarding all setup and if I go into plex and hit the "APPLY’ button it typically works again until it randomly doesn’t.

When you lose remote access - do try at the time to connect to the server remotely and also open the remote access settings page and press F5 and if there is a problem, note down the time and download the logs and post the zip here please and i will have a look

Doesn’t seem to do anything, I assume there’s a background refresh.
Question for you. I currently forward 32400 on the router, and manually specify the port in the Remote Access config. Is it preferred to NOT forward the port, and unselect the manual port?
Manual selection of port and a port forward is the most reliable method. But you must also ensure that the IP address of the server which is the one you port forward to, is a DHCP Reservation in the DHCP Table in the router so that it does not change. If it changes then the port forward will not reach the server
Or to have the IP static within the subnet but outside DHCP range
Thanks. My external IP hasn’t changed in over a year now, so I’m probably okay there. I have the router assign x.x.x.200 to the server so we’re good there as well.
Okay so now this is what’s happening after remote access has been working for a few days, it will show that it is disconnected but after checking it is not. Meaning it shows the red circle with exclamation symbol for remote access but after I had my brother (who lives in another state) check for access he was still able to access my media server. Never had this much problems since the last update. Never did I have to check anything since I first installed Media Server. So now how do I know if my remote access is really working or not? I mean come on Plex people get on your job.
Plex has lost remote access a few times since my last post. I am just now able to “catch it in the act”. I have uploaded log files. I sent you a private message with XML and registry files. As usual, it’s completely random times. In some cases, it ends up connecting remote access on its own, if I let it go long enough. Plex Media Server Logs_2018-10-30_13-57-29.zip (4.9 MB)
hi guys i have been having problems with my remote sharing also like alot of others i also noticed that my public ip port is at 0 now rather than the port that i forwarded in my router settings any simplified steps i can take that will help me fix this please? im not the greatest at networking with computers
thanks!
I’m also having issues with Remote Access - similar if not the same as what everyone else here is seeing. Just noticed over the past few weeks that my remote access isn’t working anymore. Nothing has changed in my configuration. Ports are still forwarded as they always were when remote access was rock solid.
Thanks for the logs. I can see an issue with some connectivity tests at 13:45:21 on Oct 30 where they did not get processed. This may have been because of delays on the pubsub servers. Some system changes were made on October 31 which came into effect at abut 4pm GMT.
I would like to see if the issue remains even after these changes - so please logs again for any repeat
If you have setup a port forward of a public port to local port 32400 for the local IP of the server, you need to ensure that you have ticked the Manually Specify Port box on the Remote Access Advanced server settings and entered the public port that you forwarded in the box
You also need to ensure the local IP of the server is DHCP Reserved in the router or is static and outside DHCP range
When the issue arises, open up the remote access settings page with show advanced. Refresh the page with F5 browser refresh and take a screenshot and download the logs and attach all here
