Plex DVR Guide/EPG not Updating

I’m sorry, why is it correct to label “The Jellies (2017)” as “The Jellies (2019)” because season 2 aired in 2019? Original air date of an individual episode is irrelevant to identifying the series as a whole. This affects directory structure and would make an insane mess if done similarly for every show.
This is not correct:

The above is what I accumulated before and then after the epg switch. This should be top level “The Jellies (2017)”, “The Jellies (2019)” top level directory should not exist.
One good thing is I updated to 1.16.4 just now and at least it isn’t scheduling every episode to record anymore.

Sorry - I picked on the wrong errors . I will check what we have for the show original air date - there may be errors in that field as well

Agreed - The year was missing and defaulted to 2019. I have added this to the other errors referred to our provider for this series

Great. Note the year was missing on smithsonian channels “aerial america” as well, defaulting it to 2019.

That may have been episode sequencing errors that got corrected after the 11th data

I have checked all episodes for periods I have access to schedule and episode numbers AMC HDTV (East) - TV Listings Guide and all episode numbers match

This has now been referred to our provider. Should it be 2009 or 2010 ?
tvdb shows it as 2010

ftwd got fixed by the provider in time. Future airings look correct.

Oops sorry, yeh, whatever tvdb says for Aerial America is good. Thanks for looking into those. I see if I notice any other inconsistencies in my recordings when I have time.

Asking again (22 days on) “for a friend” (ok it’s for me!)

@speedyrite based open the ongoing threads, I’d say no. I think it’ll be a while yet before you can trust Plex’s EPG.

I’m still using NextPVR in the meantime as my EPG/DVR.

I’m not finding it too bad. The main two things you have to do to are:

  • Check after booking a recording that it’s actually scheduled. The “New/Repeat” flags are messed up for a lot of channels (even BBC1) so you often have to select “New and Repeat Airings”.
  • Do manual EPG refreshes. I just don’t trust the auto-refresh yet

I would add a 3rd to your list

Check the Season/Episode (or date if no S/E) to make sure it is correct

My biggest issue is shows have the wrong information on them, causing the match with tvdb to give you details of a different episode

Thanks, from skimming through several threads (since the last time I pos(t)ed the same question!), I tend to agree.

My 2 month free trial of HDHomeRun DVR is almost ended, so I need to decide whether or not to pay for a 12 month subscription.

Looks like that will be a “yes” then. See y’all this time next year then…

There are other ways. For example, you could Install NextPVR and get a monthly subscription to SchedulesDirect (which provides the EPG).

Thanks I’ll look at that
