Oh I hope they don’t carry on suppling the original airing date as well, but if they do - hopefully there’s ways around it Plex might be able to implement server side with help from metadata.
Original Air date is useful for shows that dont have an official S/E number assigned
For example, look at Coronation Street on ITV3 this afternoon, when was that episode shown and how would it match to TVDB
Compare that to the episode on ITV2, that shows it was last nights episode
then leave Plex completely - that would be the final straw.
I have always used Get iPlayer Automator (as my DVR) for BBC/ITV as it downloads directly from the BBCiPlayer and ITVhub websites. BBC is in 720p and ITV has no adverts. If you are on a Mac, you might want to try it.
Could you send me your zip code by PM. I can’t search by lineup name to start an investigation
Thanks
I am Windows, keep meaning to try Get iPlayer, just never got round to it
Be once we get into Sept/Autumn that i do more recording of shows, summer is a slow time for me with TV
Whilst Get iPlater Automator is a Mac only app, you’re right, it’s based on and uses Get iPlayer which does work on Windows (but doesn’t do ITV I don’t think).
[edit: typos]
You may have seen my post before that said each case needs to be investigated and that may take a few hours. So if this is really a problem as opposed to an observation, let me know,. I think we have more important issues than poster being not familiar
This needs to be taken more seriously from Plex and not just pass it off to the users to report issues
Just looking at the EPG and the lunchtime news has a date of June
It’s riddled with errors, and all you keep saying is report it, how about a pro active approach from Plex and actually look at whats in the EPG, you would then see its full of garbage
We are now over a month since this new EPG came out, still no sign of regional channels, episode errors reported are not fixed, what is going on
Yes this is an issue, and should be taken seriously. Series set to record & just shows in the guide had much better/correct/up-to-date poster art before the EPG change. Some of them now have NO poster art at-all, when before they did - something isn’t right.
Already given an example above (Gardeners’ World). Few examples of wrong poster art with links to TheTVDB to show examples of what they should be / were before EPG change -
Most Haunted

If you want more, I’ll get more but it’ll most likely be my entire lineup of scheduled series.
I’ve been reporting other issues since the EPG change via the form. This is just another issue that I’ve noticed, not as important as the EPG having wrong info but should be taken seriously like all other issues.
Some series set to record, since the change have failed to even be picked up when episodes are in the guide to be recorded. I’ve been reporting them as I see them, I’m doing my best.
@Jakosaur …looks like TiVo has a different source for posters. I have 2 Plex servers, one using Plex’s EPG (test only) and one using an alternative EPG source.
Here are screen shots from both of them. Look at “8 out of 10 cats does countdown” in the top right hand of each shot):
EPG 1
EPG 2
[edit: Please note I may have those two snapshots the wrong way round, so have changes their titles to avoid any confusion]
Yeah, I’ve noticed a bunch of shows don’t have posters anymore. There used to be a generic image for shows like locals news programs and the such, but now they’re just blank.
I am looking into this and also mentioned to our provider.
With regards to data not being there or incomplete after x days, try and do a full guide refresh and see if that makes a difference.
For airing times issues - do you have a few examples in next few days schedule - was this Cartoon Network ?
And the programs missing episode / season info, are they 15 minute or shorter cartoons?
Hello, did a full refresh today and can confirm the corrections have been downloaded ![]()

I have mentioned your feedback to our provider and will look into posters.
Apart from the cases of missing posters, is the issue that they are old posters?
I did not reply to this question
The posters do come from the EPG data unless you have the “Enhanced Guide” option enabled. This does slow refreshes considerably
I do a full guide refresh daily, because Plex’s incremental updater has no concept of line-up changes. After todays full refresh this saturdays schedule is correct, next saturday is still completely wrong.
As for shows missing s/e data, well almost every show on cartoon network is 15min or less, and they’ve always had proper full metadata before. Right now it appears, cartoon network has s/e data up until Aug 3, at which point everything is either missing or completely generic. The fact that August 3’s schedule might not be correct until Aug 2, AND, require a full refresh to get those corrections, based on this weekends last minute updates, is a little disturbing.
For “Boomerang” there is almost zero S/E or even episode title information for most shows from July 31 on. This channel previously always had full metadata.
Quick question for any fellow Plex Pass DVR users in the UK: is it stable enough yet for me to resume recording off Freeview broadcast tv via my HDHomeRun dual tuner?
Thanks!
Using the examples I gave, Gardeners’ World & The Sky at Night Poster must be old as I’ve never seen them before. Most Haunted poster is for a totally different TV Show.
Ok, I think I’ve enabled it in the past and have noticed the slower refreshes. Might give it another go in the future!
Also whilst I have you, any idea why this happened? You might have answered this before, I might have missed it. Is there something behind the scenes that doesn’t link existing recording series (before EPG change) to the new EPG airings of the same series?
Thanks again!
Different people will give different answers depending on location and channels used, but my answer is “no” to the point that I am using a different EPG for the next 2 months (yes, I think it will take weeks to fix) - it’s been 4 weeks already.
