Plex DVR, Trying to watch Live TV but get error "Unable to tune channel (no parts)"

It is not possible to investigate problems without diagnostics

See my posts a few posts above yours

Please make sure the DVR is dedicated for use by Plex Media Server as any external use may result in failure of Plex Media Server actions if made at the same time as another application

I did not have the hd homerun application installed until i tried to get plex working for a few hours so that doesn’t seem to be the issue. i will post logs later when I get home and reply here.

I have restarted my plex server and got the same issue, I downloaded the logs and have them attached here.

I resarted the server on september 10th at 9:19pm eastern time. I also am running Version 1.13.7.5369 of PMS on linux Mint 18.3, kernel version is 4.15

So my issue came back today. I enabled debugging and downloaded the logs. Before sending I took a quick run through the logs. I found something very interesting. I have some Hyper-V network adapters on my computer. I see that Plex is trying connect on these interfaces. I went through and disabled those Hyper-V interfaces and restarted Plex. I can see live TV now.

@sa2000 does this make sense?

Logs before and now please to compare

I followed your instructions in the post above, to restart the server then try to tune to the channel, and then capture and post the logs. I am not sure how I can get logs from before…

interesting… I am running a VM using Qemu on my linux server, maybe i will turn that off and try that later tonight to see if it works with the VM not running.

You said the problem went away when you disabled those Hyper-V interfaces
So the before would be with the Hyper-V interfaces re-enabled and you get the problem as you did before

That was another user who posted about the hyper-v interfaces. I am running a virtual machine using QEMU on the same PC my plex server is on, but i turned that off and i still can’t tune channels so I don’t think that’s related to my problems, my logs are a few posts above.

sorry i should have double checked. Unfortunately this does happen where you ask one person to do something and then another person responds and makes reference to it

no problem do you need any additional logs?

Tuning errors could be DVR / tuner / signal issues but they could also be due to a possible bug where may be Plex Media Server or client app is not closing down sessions correctly after an error leading to subsequent tuning errors.

So yes i would like to see more logs of the problem and ideally of the issue after a relaunch of Plex Media Server so we know we are starting with a clean state

I can give you another set of logs, but the logs posted above are what you are requesting. I restarted the media server and then tried to tune a channel and the logs above are what I received. Should I do this again and post more logs?

No it is fine - i missed your log attachment in the earlier post

Is your DVR a USB device ? network? make / model?

USB Device, link for make and model is below:

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/wd-easystore-4tb-external-usb-3-0-hard-drive-black/5792400.p?skuId=5792400

That link is for storage device not a DVR

I Know, I am using the built in plex DVR, so when I record everything gets saved onto that device. Unless I am missing something.

Unless you mean the tuner, I am using a HDhomerun quatro, the newest version and the firm ware is up to date as of 3 days ago.

That was what i was talking about - it is the tune channel that you said was erroring - so it would be the tuner. Is this on IP address 192.168.0.154?

Could you save the output you get from these requests which you can make in a browser and send to me as text files

http://192.168.0.154/discover.json
http://192.168.0.154/lineup_status.json

So there is no USB tuner - just the lan connected HDHomerun

Yes that is the IP adress of the tuner, I made it a static IP on my router, there is no USB tuner sorry. I will get those files later tonight and post them here. Just for reference if i install the HD homerun app all of the channels tune fine so its not a signal issue. I did uninstall the hd homerun apps though before trying plex to avoid that app locking up a tuner.
