No, it says “Quantum Freedom.” Quantum is the name of the Fiber internet service provided by CenturyLink.
On Ethernet system preferences, set ‘Configure IPv4’ to ‘Manually’ then set it to:
IP: 192.168.0.151
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Router 192.168.0.1
DNS: 8.8.8.8
Then press ok apply etc and quit preferences and try again.
That’s correct, but what I’m saying is that the public IP in your first screenshot (the Plex one) is a Spectrum-owned IP. The IP I pointed out as being weird earlier.
Let me give that a shot…
Oh okay. Yes, that is because I also have Spectrum internet in my office as a backpack and I connected to it as well to try to troubleshoot this whole process. But it’s not relevant because I won’t be using Spectrum for Plex.
Ah, OK. I got confused by your screenshot of PMS showing that IP, and not being able to connect.
Okay, I gave it a shot and it didn’t work. Interestingly enough, with it set on DHCP, it shows a green light indicating I have access to the internet, even when I don’t. It shows this both on DHCP and when I set it up manually with the settings you gave me above:
With this result above, turn off wifi and restart Computer switches and routers. Then check your connection.
I tried this. I also, just to be sure, reinstalled Ventura and reset everything. It is not a big deal since it an M1 and the only thing I am going to use it for is Plex, so it is relatively quick.
Anyhow, after unplugging and plugging the modem back in, also unplugging and plugging the ethernet switch back in, and finally installing Ventura, and resetting the modem through the Admin interface, I still get the same issue/problem.
Ethernet is working again on my Media Server Mac Mini. Here’s my Speedtest.net results with Ethernet:
So we know I have a good, strong, fast connection. No issue there. I can surf and browse the internet again, like normal. Everything is live. Now let me try one more time to connect to the Plex Server…
Turn off their “Cyber Security” in their device settings. A couple other posts on the subject.
This worked! THANKS SO MUCH!
Sound familiar? LOL
Glad it’s working
