Holy crap!!! All of the shows are there! (They are not linked yet so I can’t play anything) but that proves the metadata and everything should finally be there! @ChuckPa You are the MAN I know you didn’t have to spend your Saturday helping me but you did it! Thank you. (I hope I am not speaking too soon it will be a while until all my content are uploaded to the Synology from my Ubuntu so once that is done I will be able to point the libraries to the correct spots.
I know this is a very small thing… But is there a way to keep the “Date Added” intact? I love sorting by my newest movies first and with this method they all say “A Few Seconds Ago” when I added a new collection. Can I just edit the old?
Edit: I might have spoke too soon. As soon as it was done going through the whole library it said “a year ago” on most of the items. So I think it took the old data for that too.
@ChuckPa You are the best!
I’m glad my efforts have been beneficial.
Plex on DSM 7 has been 14 months in the making now.
It is amazing! @ChuckPa The only thing I am having an issue with now is my covers are all pulling down the “default” cover and not the cover I changed them too. Is there a fix for that? I spent a long time picking which cover I liked the best.
Edit: I just realized my issue. I was adding a full new Library instead of just a new library location on the original one.
I think this will fix my issue.
Make sure you check which agent is enabled. You want the Local Media Assets agent to engage.
not knowing which version of PMS you came from, you might also be using the new scanner??
I’m using Plex TV Scanner it looks like.
But like I said above I think I misread your instructions and added a new Library instead of adding a new location to the existing Library. I think that fixed my problem.
We Engineres tend to be prespice
Thanks for all the hard work here, this is such a helpful resource.
I did the migration fine, libraries are all good. However, when I add new content to a library, it’s no longer updating the library. I have to manually trigger it.
Second linked item. When I manually refreshed I was logged in on the plex Web as administrator, call it user 1. I can then see the updated library on my TV after the refresh when also set as the same user 1. However, if I switch user to say user 2, they cannot see the new files.
So last night I verified everything was working properly when I got to the server directly using the ipaddress:32400/web but I realized today when I went to my Plex app or to plex.tv it is still showing my old server on the computer that isn’t even turned on. Any ideas how to fix this?
I think they are all gone. But I also fixed it. I found an article that said to sign out of the app and the server and then sign into the server first and then the app. That seemed to have fixed the issue.
Remember how you increased the size on DSM 6? You need do it again for DSM 7 because it’s a completely fresh installation of a new OS in the partition.
After fixing my app showing the old server I left the app for a while came back and it’s the old server again. I cleared out all authorized devices minus the new server and am still having the issue.
It feels like a cacheing issue, but its weird because when it happens, it happens on all apps whether through the browser or the mobile app.
I have done everything I can think of. I have again fixed my mobile app and web browser. But my wife still can’t see the new server. (I believe she could earlier) I know she is seeing the old server (that shouldn’t even exist anymore) because it is missing the new TV show I have added after switching to the synology and she can’t play any content saying the file doesn’t exist.
I have removed her as a user
cleared her app cache and storage on her phone
turned the server off and back on again
uninstalled and reinstalled the Plex app on here phone. She still can’t see the new server.
Edit: 20 minutes of watching something on my phone I pause it and try to cast it on my tv only to find out my app has reverted back to the “old server” as well. I am really hoping I didn’t make a mistake switching to this Synology.
Did you do the simple:
- uninstall the app
- reinstall
- connect it up fresh
You didn’t make a mistake. the UUIDs are biting you and we need to sort it.
I will go look at your account.
The mobile app? Yes as well as clearing out the cache and storage for the app.
I see multiple servers on your account – most deleted.
I am willing to clean this for you.
Which should remain please?
Only Alex’s server and Enabler
be right bach
-
Server list clean.
-
Go into Users & Sharing. Unshare from your wife’s account
-
Share with her again.
-
have her fully restart the app.
She should receive notice of the sharing.
