The NAS vendors do not have native OpenCL libraries for their distributions.
We are waiting for the Build team and Engineering to assemble a universal X86_64 Beignet & OpenCL package set which works with all the vendors.
Hi Chuck, is PlexMediaServer-1.23.3.4707 good to go with dsm 7?
I have upgraded nas 218+ to this plex version under version 6. Thinking of now going tovdsm 7

I would HOLD OFF from upgrading to DSM 7 at this time.
DSM 7 is only “Release Candiate” (“beta 2” in reality) status.
If you wish some details,
- Changes were introduced in DSM 7.0-41882 which broke our packaging.
- Synology has informed us more changes are coming.
Any platform which is making Design/Feature changes to a product in “Release Candiate” status – is NOT “Release Candidate” quality.
Release Candidates, by definition, are “Design Frozen” with only bug fixes to make it fully Release worthy quality.
This is why Plex has made the determination, in spite of what Synology advertises, DSM 7.0 is “BETA 2” quality.
We understand they most likely operating on a predetermined schedule and are going to push something out the door as “Final Release” at some near point in time.
We (mostly I) cannot support a platform when
- The design / implementation is changing from version to version
- The documentation is changing. (whole sections have been removed since DSM 7.0-41222)
The best we can do is work with Synology as they continue to refine DSM 7 and then evaluate DSM 7.0 when it reaches its Release status.
Speaking further as a developer,
- Most of my packaging improvements — Subject to change or even being scrapped.
- My entire implementation, based on the new rules imposed by DSM 7, are subject to change.
It is not possible to develop and offer a product (Plex on DSM 7) when the base platform (DSM 7) is changing.
I can only promise, as I’ve stated elsewhere in these forums, we will continue to work with Synology and will, once stable, evaluate if & how to support PMS on DSM 7.
DSM 6, on the other hand, is and has been since the beginning.

After trying to de-install reboot and reinstall all I ever get is a continual install which never ends, this is on the so called RC version with the Plex Pass installer … I have added all the permissions I believe I need ! Help !
Only way to stop this is to reboot the box and then delete the broken installation.
Synology announced today that the final release of DSM 7 will be next week on the 29th.

Even if my NAS shows availability to download and install… I’m waiting for 7.1 at least. Which will probably be no more than a week after 7 is released.

I read the article very carefully. Scenario 2 applies to me: Plex Media Server installed on the same volume as the Plex share.
My problem is that I am not able to have a custom box. Only read/write is available to me as a checkbox.
So I am not able to give full control permissions. What can i do?
