Hi Chuck, sorry if this is repetitive, but is this still the most up to date instructions to install PSM on DSM 7 (public release version)? I have been reading all posts, but I am seeing people mention various steps and want to confirm.
Is it worth holding off for you to finish updates to the package for an easier install? If so, is there an ETA?
install is wrapping up now⊠I must have a ton of metadata.
I followed the initial remediation steps assigning rights to PlexMediaServer of my existing plex directory â that too took about 20 minutes to complete.
Reran the install and waited a while for a couple operations to complete and then saw Package Manager kick-off a mv of my old plex directory to the new app folder that took forever. The interactive installer eventually timed out but I still see stuff running in the background.
The âmvâ is still running and Package Manager reports Plex is still installing. Will be interesting to see how this ends.
Hello there. I actually install the latest dsm 7, then install plex 6 install the latest version as u described @ChuckPa . but Iâm getting an error every time I try to play a new movie no matter the quality.
how do I verify that âPlexMediaServerâ can only read, not write, to a particular folder?
And how do I verify that âPlexMediaServerâ can neither read nor write to a particular folder?
Currently, the UI doesnât show any permissions for any of the shared folders that contain my video content. Yet, content can be shared by Plex without issue.
Thanks to this thread and all the comments I just successfully upgraded my NAS to DSM7 and migrated Plex across. Migration took close to an hour, but not a single hiccup or problem experienced due to the tips, advice, and recommendations from everyone above. Especially @ChuckPa and his/her posts.
Question: if I am running Plex in a Docker container on my Synology, will I have problems updating to the just released DSM 7 release? Or does using Docker effectively allow me to ignore the frustrating issues youâre all dealing with? Thank you!
DSM 7 removed Docker from my DS418j development system.
I canât even begin to tell you how it will play but itâs not going to be pretty, thatâs for sure.
I have no idea how youâre going to get to the hardware except as ârootâ ⊠and Synology is really NOT going to like that if they can prevent it.
Ugh. Well, thanks for the warning! I guess Iâm going to ignore DSM 7 for a month or two and see where things end up landing. But this seems incredibly painfulâŠ
