what do you mean with pre-roll ?
Hollman,
A pre-roll video.
Itās a short video segment which gets played before the movie.
I got everything done very painless. Thank you for all youāre doing.
I did find 1 issue. I added a new media file and it didnāt auto add it to the library. In order to get it to appear I had to initiate a scan library and then it populated right away. Before, adding new media, it would detect and auto do it.
- verify DEBUG logging enabled, VERBOSE disabled.
- Restart
- Wait 3 minutes for PMS to start and add all the āWatchā folders.
- Download the logs ZIP.
- If it contains āno space left on deviceā as part of āNotifyā then the watch table is full. Thatās easily remedied.
You can check or let me know and Iāll look.
Thanks trumpy. Iām thinking itās probably a good idea to back up the meta-data folder within synology prior to upgrading. Iām not sure how big this folder would be but Iām assuming it should be less than the actual library. Whatās the file path to the meta-data folder in DSM 6 to back up appropriately?
What log file would this be in? I
Plex Media Server.log
Nope it doesnāt have any error stating that.
If Plex isnāt automatically detecting new media when you add it (about a minute later) then
a. library settings
b. Permissions
c. Permissions somewhere else
d. Remote media (not scanned over the network
It does work. Syno is VERY good at that.
First thing I checked to
Make sure it didnāt get turned off for some reason when I migrated.
I did a reboot and ran another test and it was instant now. I had not rebooted since I got everything up and running. Iād suggest everyone do that once they complete your directions one more time after Plex is installed. Thatās all it took for me.
Did you restart DSM after you finished its upgrade ?
I have stated that several times today
Yes I did. I followed your very detailed directions.
Everything was working I just noticed that one issue and why I rebooted DSM again which cleared it up.
so this is a DSM quirk. Good to know.
Downloaded the DSM 7 version for my 1019+, have uninstalled Plex through the package center, the uninstall went quick as a breeze. Currently updating to DSM 7, will be following directions after the fresh reboot to install Plex again. Crossing my fingers.
120k songs, 500+ movies, from 720 to 4k. Weāll see how long that takes ^^
That would be ok. It sits all night anyway. Package update 17 of 19 for the initial DSM upgrade, 15 mins so far. I know Plex would take longer. It took -days- to read all of the library, as I placed it on the NAS before I installed plex to get a fresh install.
Noted. Doing the fresh reboot myself, now, then installing Plex. Iām mainly talking here to show some folks what happens, at least for me. NAS is Synology 1019+, 7TB out of 20TB used. Windows 10 computer, and the NAS is on a home network in order to play movies and music through Roku to the TV and/or speakers, depending on the room.
As a note, Plex is listed in the Beta package center, and the version is 1.21.0-3744. I am going to install my downloaded 1.23.3-4707 version instead.
Whoops. Gotta install the newer download of plex
For those who may not know, the 1019+ J3455 processor is a 64 bit processor.
Chuck, New or lost server, or normal installation?
Normal installed failed, got the plexmedia server does not have full control of existing plex shares. Following the popup instructions now.
Ok, so far, followed instructions on the pop. - I took a screenshot of it, and am reading it off of my second monitor to follow the steps. All permissions taken care of, NAS is fixing the PlexMediaServer permissions on everything now.
You were right, about 50 minutes.
On to the next step.
-Setup complete. I had to restart the NAS again after Plex was installed, and almost all the way through, I got a wizard failed install error of some type, it said re-install. I just closed it , as it was pasted over the DSM install window during the manual install, and it had already installed itself?
Anyway, it works now, tested, no need to change anything on Roku if you donāt change the NAS address on the network. All seems to work so far. Now, this trainwreck of organization of Photos, wayyy diff story.
Thanks, Chuck!
I had a PMS installation on DSM 6 with Tautulli via Docker. Then I uninstall PMS upgrade to DSM 7 and install PMS. I set the option that the log files are stored in the default space. But where is the default place? which folder did I have to mount now for Tautulli to find the log files again?
Maybe I missed something, it says my mp4 movie files are unavailable⦠check that the disk is mounted and the file exists. Guess something in permissions.
The thumbnails are there, and under info, it shows the correct path, and in DSM folders the file exists. odd.
There is no user called āPlexmediaserverā. Stil the same old plex user. Hmm.
- Nope, my fault. Forgot the dropdown for system internal user. I did not see that before, and am now editing for permissions.
