Sorry wrong pic attached.

now if we can get Plex to support HEIC photo format :slight_smile: No way to have Synology Photos to make the conversion like you could do with Photo Station …

@ChuckPa

Thank you for the help. You have been great to work with and I know I am one of the rarer support cases being on EXT3 and appreciate the willingness to help. Initial checks are good. My library with viewing progress/history is there and my videos are streaming with no issue. The only change I made was not specifying a logging location as it presented an error with the folder name change.

Just a question on

  1. Clean up unused Library.save and Application Support directory` (left behind)
  2. Clean up the warning files.

If I remove the ā€œPlexā€ folder as I understand it is no longer needed will it clean up these sections?

@Wichard20

Yes, deleting the shared folder removes everything in it.

Some folks have media there :angry: , so I don’t blindly say to delete it as matter of fact :wink:

Just as was with DSM 6, ā€œUninstall + KEEP optionā€ == leaves your data alone.

When you install, or update, you can work out where you want the logs moved

Since upgrading to DSM 7.0 I can not connect directly to the server. I have to go through quickconnect. They are on the same subnet. That was going to be the next issue I was going to work on.

To add to Trumpy, it sounds like the firewall is enabled and blocking what it shouldn’t.

Already tried that. Synology web assistant can’t find it. Its about 6 feet from me, Quick Connect is the only access I have right now. I’m sure its a simple fix but that is outside this thread so I didn’t bring it up.

@twood01

Are you both on the same subnet ? 192.168.1.x ?

Check computer/laptop IP

yep. just double checked.

nope.

disregard. it just did. The first couple time it didn’t

I did and it works. It added the following characters after :5001 ā€œ/?_dc=1626044235662ā€

I assume I start all over again? Uninstall, etc?

Done. I’m going to try something. I’m moving all the Plex metadata to a portable drive then I’m gonna delete all Plex application files and data from the NAS and try a fresh install.

Nope.

No PMS user after reinstall. I disabled the generic admin a long time ago and have a separate user as Admin

No such luck. No PMS user. I’m going to call it quits for the day. I’ve been working on this all weekend. Thank you for your help and guidance. I’ll let you know if a I figure it out.

That was no good either. Thanks again

I see there’s issues when you upgrade from 6 to 7. But what if you never had it installed? Brand new NAS. Ok to install plex on 7 if it’s new?

@MrW

If a brand new Synology, go for it.

After installation, there will be a popup with a blue banner in it.

Take a screenshot.

It is showing you the instructions needed so Plex can access your media on DSM 7.
