I will be archiving all preceding posts in this thread to a linked “archive” thread.
The thread will be accessible to all for reference purposes. (Read only)
I am doing this because the updated packaging addresses several issues:
Previously download subtitles (subtitle agents) did not migrate correctly.
Having previously backed up / restored the Plex share broke ACLs and block proper migration.
Incorrect ACLs were not detected properly resulting in a false migration success message.
These changes now cause migration to require significant time to complete because:
ACLs are corrected.
Ownership is changed
Subtitle links are corrected
The approximate time required to complete is about 2 minutes per 1000 items indexed by Plex. (e.g. 10,000 items will about 20 minutes to complete)
Please stand by while final checks are made and updated packages generated.
I will post an announcement when updated packages are available for download.
PS: If I can make it happen, I will also be introducing multi-language support for the UI element. (I will target French and Spanish first but include more if possible)
PPS: I will do my best to help those individuals who have metadata in various states of migration.
PLEASE re-read this post. I updated the instructions and screenshots.
The migration procedure has changed. ( Unavoidable change )
Highlights:
PlexMediaServer must have Full Control of the Plex share for Apply to this folder, sub-folders, and files
If an existing , non-migrated server exists – Uninstall & Erase that data. It will not migrate on top of an existing (i protect against accidental corruption)
We are going to hold back listing it on the Downloads page until we, here in this thread, have had one last opportunity to check it out.
If there are no problems (not expecting any), then it will be released into the wild and this thread will be a “Cleanup” thread to resolve any issues with the next DSM 7 beta release.
I will open new Preview threads as I work on the last few things I need to work into the package ; as DSM 7 itself matures into released/production status.
Hi Chuck, I just wanted to say thank you for all your hard work on this over the last months.
I’ve been quietly following this topic (and the other linked ones) to keep up to date after, perhaps prematurely, upgrading my Synology to the DSM7 beta.
The work you’ve put in (at all hours) has not gone unappreciated!
On My DS218+ with DSM 7 latest Beta it says wrong Filetype if i choose manual Install.
Package Intel 64bit DSM 6.0 or newer
I have another Question too, i can´t access the Database Folder of Plex because it´s in a Root Folder from Synology NAS. (latest Plex DSM 7 Beta 1.22.0.4163 x86_64 DSM7)
