Plex Media Server Synology NAS, Access denied! You do not have access permission to this server #2

Server Version#: PlexMediaServer-1.28.1.6104-788f82488-x86_64_DSM7.spk
Player Version#: not matter

Problem is the same as mentioned here ( Plex Media Server Synology NAS, Access denied! You do not have access permission to this server - Plex Media Server - Plex Forum

Problem raised after Plex Account password change recommended by broadcast warning from Plex.

Still has the problem after the:

  1. FULL Plex uninstall (with all information erase)
  2. Shared folders delete through DSM configuration tab
  3. NAS restart (to clear possible cash)
  4. fresh installation of last Plex Server revision

How-To article ( Why am I locked out of Server Settings and how do I get in? | Plex Support doesn’t helps because there is no mentioned key in Preferences.xml after steps 1-4, it looks more less as default.

So please propose ideas or links where NAS can keep old token information EVEN after steps listed above.

Thanks in advance.

Greetings this is the same problem that i am having.

have you come up with any solution at this point

i to have deleted everything and when I try to log back in from the web app it tells me that I need to download Plex media server but I am already it the server app.

At this point I am ready to delete my whole account and start a new one but I have a lifetime plex pass and I dont want to have to pay the money again once I start a new account

Does this thread help Reset PW after data breach, now can't see my server

If not then @ChuckPa should be able to help.

Folks,

  1. BEFORE Installing.
*. Sign out your Plex/web browser (upper right corner)
    *. Restart the browser
    *. Sign into https://app.plex.tv
  • This updates all the credentials in your browser
  1. Uninstall PMS with the “Uninstall only. KEEP” option

  2. Manual install PMS SPK downloaded from Media Server Downloads | Plex Media Server for Windows, Mac, Linux, FreeBSD and More

  3. On the DSM 7 installation page (the first menu)
*. Install using Plex Claim Token
*. Get Plex Claim Token link
    *. Browser opens
*. COPY the token into the browser
    *. Return to install tab
*. PASTE the token into the window
    *. Click NEXT then DONE
    *. It begins installing
*. When complete, It will report: Claimed by: YourPlexUsername
*. Open the Synology by its LAN IP. (Do not use QuickConnect or FQDN)
*. Once opened by IP . you can then use it any way you want.

(I will address this in the next installer update for DSM 7 to be more forgiving)

Thanks @ChuckPa and all for replies! Will try to aplly and come back with status update today, latest tomorrow.

(UPD from evening): @ChuckPa - thanks a lot, fixed. Plex server was started and logged into account successfully.

As conclusion main difference from previous attempts:

  1. install server with Token claim
  2. first login through LAN IP (not Quickconnect).

Don’t know what’s works from this 1 or 2 - but it launched. Thanks a lot one more time ))

@ultimetagosh

At this revision of the packaging, you need both (unfortunately).

I’ve made a change to the “Plex Claim Token” code in the installer to remove the “First Login” requirement. It took a lot of experimenting but I finally made PMS happy
