NO ACCESS after data breach & password reset on Synology NAS ...HELP!

I got the infamous email about the recent data breach, and followed instructions to reset/update my PMS password, but now I cannot access Plex either remotely or locally.

I have read all the other posts, but cannot seem to find a solution. Can anyone help? Please.

From that screen above select the settings icon on the the banner, then goto the general tab under settings and select the claim server option.

That should sort it out.

If it was only that easy, I would love it. Thanks for your quick reply, but I don’t see any place to claim the

server… see pic.

Same for me (x2!), following Plex data breach alert, I changed my password.
Since, the Plex server web interface returns “Not authorized, You do not have access to this server”.

I’ve tried several workarounds, including stopping Plex to remove entries from Preferences.xml, but all failed (https://support.plex.tv/articles/204281528-why-am-i-locked-out-of-server-settings-and-how-do-i-get-in/).

I understand I need to claim my server, but I can’t find such option on the Plex server web interface (https://support.plex.tv/articles/account-requires-password-reset/ no “claim server” under “general” when accessing in local mode - see screenshot including “advanced settings”), and other methods failed (qb install plex CLAIM_PLEX_TOKEN).

Could someone please advise me on how to claim my server from the Plex server web interface?

Thank you in advance!

My Plex server (Version 4.84.1) runs on a Synology NAS, I’m accessing it from my PC on the same home network (no VPN).

Past posts on the same topic did not help:

I’d suggest trying again with a completely empty browser cache, clear all cache, cookies etc… and try again.

If that fails, that it could mean your locked out so this procedure might help Why am I locked out of Server Settings and how do I get in? | Plex Support.

Failing all that let’s see if a ninja or employee from plex can help.

Are you accessing it from the same logical network (192.168.2.x)?

Since you have DSM 7, did you have the package installer reclaim the server for you?

How-to

  1. Uninstall Package – use KEEP option
  2. Manual Install same SPK (version) file again
  3. Select “Install using Plex Claim token” radio button
  4. Also click “Get Plex Claim Token” hyperlink
  5. New tab will open
  6. COPY the token (it will be in your browser)
  7. Go back to the installation tab.
  8. PASTE the token in the small box on the Install form.
  9. Click NEXT → DONE
  10. It will start to install.
  11. When it finishes installation and claiming the server,
  12. It will finish with “Server claimed by: Your_Plex_Username”

The server will now be back on your account.

Open the server by it’s IP address ONE time to get it back in sync.

It is important you and the server are on the same subnet this one time.

ChuckPa’s directions worked. Thank You!

FIRST download and upgrade the PMS software on the NAS (since you can’t download old versions), THEN follow his instructions.
