In case the additional information helps (not sure that it does), the issues started happening with the “PlexMediaServer-1.16.4.1469” update on macOS (Catalina beta 5). I downgraded the PMS to “PlexMediaServer-1.16.3.1402” and the issue went away.
And yes, the issue seems to be mostly there with MKV files. But then again, Plex seems to have a lot of issues with MKV files all the time - does not display subtitles from MKV files sometimes, for example. Other times, it will show the subtitle fine. I do realize that MKV is a wrapper format and that the issue might be elsewhere but just letting you know.
My client/player is the Roku Plex app but I don’t know if the issue is on the client side since downgrading the server did fix the issue for me.
I also have this problem on three Samsung KS and one KU. 3.109.2 client, Tizen 2.4.0 on latest server version on the Plex Pass channel running on Windows 10. Logs are attached. Plex Media Server Logs_2019-08-10_10-56-58.zip (2.6 MB)
I can confirm that downgrading server to version 1.16.3.1402 solved the problem.
I have a ks8000 and Turned off directstream or directplay (cant remember I did one at a time) and it went away… still didn’t transcode which was good. To me problem is worse with x265/hevc material. Hopefully fixed soon, love the new interface though
Thank you for the tip about turning off the Direct Play. Hopefully they get this fixed sooner and not later, but that temporary fix at least allows videos to play without skipping forward, at least so far. Nice catch!
I reverted back to plex windows media server Version 1.16.3.1402 and now I am up and running again. Thanks for the other 2 users who reported this. I am glad its just a bad server update. The new one for all UI is a welcome to something we had in the past. So I am happy for that along with the 2016 Samsung has been updated and the search is easily accessible again. It has been hard to get to for a year.
I have 3 different Samsung TV Tizen OS versions… 4.0 (1260), 3.0 (1270) and the problem Tizen OS version 2.4.0 (1240).
…Down grading to previous version fixed playback issues. Switching out of the BETA channel permanently now. When I first bought plex I didn’t have kids, now I have two under 7. I don’t have time running around the house troubleshooting TV problems.
I can also confirm same issue with Samsung TV and Server V. 1.16.4.1469 started when I upgraded server to 1469.
No skipping of playback on Amazon Fire Tablet or Chrome web browser on Mac. Just the Samsung - very frustrating not to be able to use the big screen. Hope this is fixed ASAP!!!
