Plex randomly jumping forward during playback

I’ve just updated my Plex server and have come across the issue. I had updated my Samsung TV Plex client before and it was working fine, now with this server update it jumps randomly forward while watching, very odd.

The devs think they have identified the problem. Fix should be coming to PMS soon.

Hey guys, I have a RC hotfix for 1.16.5 that should resolve this issue:

Please try the following builds;

EDIT: This is now in Beta (and links can be found here Media Server Downloads | Plex Media Server for Windows, Mac, Linux, FreeBSD and More) and will go to all users in the next few days

I have this issue on Windows Plex Media Server 1.16.5.1488 and two Samsung smart TVs.
Looking forward to trying the RC hotfix (1.16.5) that chrisallen has linked.

This seems to have fixed the jumping issue on my Samsung UN55KS9000 using the version 1.16.5.1554 RC hotfix. This is with Direct Play re-enabled. Hope this works for everyone!

Thanks chrisallen!!!

1.16.5.1554 fixed it for my Synology too ! Thank you !

Thanks

It helped. Thank you very much

finally a fix! Thank you.

Just another Samsung TV user with the same problem. Thought I would add to the total of injured users.

And the fix for Synology 32bit?

Downloaded the 1.16.5.1554 hotfix update, but I now have an almost completely black screen on my Samsung TV (just over a year old) with movie and show titles, but no background colors of any kind, and no thumbnails of any media content. No idea why I’m not getting the great results others are. The random skipping isn’t happening anymore, but whatever I’m watching hesitates for a second every 10 seconds or so during playback like clockwork.

The ‘best’ solution is subjective. For me disabling direct play is inefficient and in the case of 4K HDR not an option. For users that want to disable direct play that will be the problem as they offload more work to the server.

The problem seems to be solved with this release on my Samsung TV

The links are dead please can you check and advise.

Update seems to fix for me, did notice a gap in sound during a movie

I’m also getting a “file not found” on the links for the test builds.

They rolled out 1.16.5.1554-1e5ff713d for everyone, you can just grab it from the main download page or ensure you have the beta update channel selected and just let your server update itself. Just did it here on my server (Mac) and it seems to have done the trick.

Per my last post (couldn’t figure out how to reply to you and mrlgm007 at the same time) it’s just on the main download page now or else you can select the beta update channel and just let your server update. Seems to have worked for me on OSX.
