I went to watch a movie today and the iMac I run Plex server on now says Plex server can’t run on this version of Mac OS. I did not update Plex server. Is there a way to roll back to a version of Plex server that works?
I have been running Plex Media Server for ages on a 2013 MacBook with Sierra 10.12.6. Plex updated a couple of days ago and will no longer run. Unfortunately I cannot upgrade the OS to anything after 10.12.6 on this machine.
The PMS download page only allows the latest versions to be installed, would love to find a way to revert back to the version I was using last week!
Found loads of old versions. I had to go back to PMS v1.31 but it appears to be working. Newer versions were listed as compatible with MacOS 10.9 or later but I kept getting told that I needed 10.13 or later. Took me a few attempts before I found one that worked for me.
Hope that helps!
Note: When I ran Plex Player on my firestick it asked me to update, I selected “skip this version” and it just opened just fine.
Not sure how reliable that platform is (fingers crossed they don’t give you tinkered executables).
It’s usually safest to check out the previously installed versions within macOS itself.
