PLEX, please, bring back the detail view. i’ll be waiting for. Thanks.
If not, so, please, give a way to advanced users chose to add them as a plugin or addon.
Last night I searched by actor, and then : SURPRISE !
The search result is displayed in gridview…
So if it’s not good for your customers or your lines of code, why leave it ?
It seems like checkmate, don’t you think ?
Please restore display options to folder view! I have thousands of films organized into scores of folders, and grid display is critical to my usage of Plex!
Please bring grid view back to folders. being stuck using detail view sucks big time. Grid View is what got me interested in plex management… if all i was going to have to pick a movie from a folder is this horrible view with tiny icons a could have stuck with the cheesy DLNA UI
one week and no answer from @chrishoage
we, the customers, are still waiting for an explanation.
I’ve had enough of this:
# dpkg -i plexmediaserver_1.22.3.4523-d0ce30438_amd64.deb
dpkg: warning: downgrading plexmediaserver from 1.23.2.4656-85f0adf5b to 1.22.3.4523-d0ce30438
...
you may notify me if common sense has arrived.
this post has made someone feel bad? well, look at all the costumers feeling bad in this and other threads and at the reason that caused it.
oh and for all you debian (and based-upons) people, you also want to:
# apt-mark hold plexmediaserver
plexmediaserver set on hold.
so that you won’t get a broken version via regular upgrades.
So “This was an intentional change.” And also, as a Plex employee, you are makin an official statement. Are you aware of that? Well, then let me tell you that you make a fake or wrong statement. you say “the folder view will be limed to a list-style view in the web app.” Yes, it is implemented that way accesing through (https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/), but guess what? It was also implemented in the local network WEB ACCESS. That’s what we all are complaining about, not about the app.Plex.tv access! So wish you better luck when making OFFICIAL STATEMENTS. And I recommend you being a little less arrogant next time. You are talking to customers, not to your dog.
Guess what? It actually IS an issue in LOCAL ACCESS
This is the only solution I’ve found thus far—THANK YOU!
I can’t believe I’m one of two likes! Hopefully this isn’t an indicator of how many people have found/utilized this solution but it definitely deserves way more likes and especially so if that means more will see it!
This change is hugely disappointing. I’ll used to shuffle a folder of sitcom episodes to enjoy at random, and for no sensible reason I can no longer do so. There’s no good reason to have removed this feature. You’re actively working to make the application less usable. I can’t filter by unwatched. I can’t shuffle. Dude, we can’t even SELECT ALL without a major headache. These are basic everyday features. I pay for the app. I pay for Plex Pass. You’re giving me less for my money over time. Why?
I ended up rolled back to an older version that this resource was available yet:
plexmediaserver_1.22.3.4523
If you are on windows, uninstall and install the version mentioned above. The settings will be kept, don’t worry.
Can’t wait for the different views to be back…
GOD DAMN IT!
Another Windows 10 App Update but still nothing changed?!?
COME ON GUYS! BRING IT BACK ALREADY!!!
8 years… That’s how long I’ve been using Plex. While it hasn’t always been puppies and roses in that time, I’ve overall been pretty accepting of the changes they’ve made, even the bad ones. This change, however, really burns me. The code for the three view options are obviously still available. So why remove them from the folder view? Also, why would the intentional change switch to the one view that wastes the most screen real estate? If you want to make it a list-only view, at least make it the Table view so we can fill in all that empty space with extra columns.
Same here.
This change is crap. I’ll continue to check whether each future update brings back the functionality I want, and if I find that it doesn’t, I’ll uninstall the new update and reinstall 1.22.3.4523.
So far I’ve done this four times.
v1.23.1.4571 & v1.23.2.4625 & v1.23.2.4656 & v1.23.2.4707 are all broken, as far as I’m concerned.
I missed this thread initially because I’m not using any windows so I skipped it while skimming through the list. and I made my own:
sorry about the mess.
This is just so disappointing. It has been obvious to me that the powers that be have wanted to do away with the folder view for a while. I wonder if Plex ever consults their users before making changes. As I am using Synology, I will do the uninstall/reinstall since I have no other choice. Sad.
just to be clear: folder navigation is the only way to navigate a big structure. anything related to metadata is not usable for navigation. they decide to give the silent treatment on twitter too:
as it is at the moment I regret every penny I gave them and if you are thinking about giving plex your money, take my advice: Don’t.
This.
In the past, there have been a bunch of changes the Plex team has made which caused some backlash. And they’ve pushed back on us as a trivial “people fear change” sort of deal. And I sometimes agree that we, as users, will just get used to it. But this one isn’t just that. For any parent who takes countless videos of their kids. Or drone pilots who have massive collections of flights. Or GoPro users who record every mountain bike ride, track day, rock climb, etc. We end up with HUGE libraries of personal video content. Folder views are really the only realistic/practical way of navigating all of that. And when you force just one view, the most useless of the three, down our throats, that just screams of flipping a middle finger to loyal users.
