Plex web and Windows 10 app lose view controls in Folders view

What kind of crap is this? I use grid view exclusively. I dont use plex outside of my house. This is not how you do customer service. Luckily i was able to roll back, but i fear the roku app will stop working with the version that has the grid view. I have 15TB of movies. it takes forever to scroll through the new interface. Whose bright idea was this?

Why hasn’t this been fixed yet ?

I rolled back to Version 1.22.2.4282 which is the last version I have that still has the folder view working. I refuse to update past this version unless Plex Support starts listening to all of the ongoing complaints from its pay customers like me. What a dumbass move this was on Plex’s part!

Now…if I can only figure out how to disable the “new version is available” nag notifications in Plex. Anybody got any idea how to turn off PMS notifications? Automated download and install has been unchecked but still continues to warn me there’s a newer version available. Is there a code hack to kill these notifications?

Not really expecting Plex to do anything about this. They already have our money and they have no incentive to listen any of their users since it’s not like we’re going to get a refund from lifetime plex pass if you end using their products. Sad but inevitable end result it seems.

I created an feature suggestion to replace the features, though not holding my breath:

I’ve rolled back to v1.22.3.4523 (which was the last “good” version before this ridiculous change occurred), and that’s exactly where I’ll be staying until I read in these forums that this issue has been addressed.

Removing these options is a very poorly weighted choice.
When I purchased a lifetime sub to Plex, the last thing I expected was to have options removed.
The folder view options need to be restored.

“people fear change” is the poorest excuse for not listening to the customers I’ve ever heard.

If change is to be feared then change is bad. If change is not noticed or praised, then change is good.

In fact… the whole dressing up of media files with cover art, trailers and stuff is… well. not required imho.
is it nice? yes.
would I spend money to get it (or not to loose it)? nope. not a penny.

the basic use case for plex is more like a remote read only network filesystem that has an app and can put content on a chromecast and can do some reencoding to fit everything through the bottleneck of an internet connection for the less fortunate.

basic in this context means: required to be considered as a solution for a problem.

on the bright side: plex-amp has gotten a folders nav feature recently and it is good. I just which there would be an option to bring it from the bottom to the top of the list or even better start in folders mode and hide the other clutter so it doesn’t get in the way.

Bad decision here Plex. Just got an update the other day that broke my grid view and now is really, annoying scrolling through this long column of folders on my tablet or phone. Please put the grid view back please.

Still no fix to this new ridiculous Folder view?

We should all upvote that feature suggestion!

There are two feature suggestions. Vote for both…

another update …
still no grid view …
still no plex employee with enough courage to offer a valid explanation …

Version 1.22.3.4523 of Plex Media Server still works fine. Every version more recent than this is broken, as far as Grid View is concerned.
Uninstall the application.
For Windows users, go to this location ~ C:\Users<username>\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Updates and install 1.22.3.4523-d0ce30438
All your previous settings will remain intact.

Every day I log in to Web UI, I hate that list view more and more. On my monitor, it shows only 3 entire rows (movies or sub-folders) on a single page. It used to fit 20+!!!

I just installed plex again after one try. I am looking for alternative for Synology Audio Station. I kind of hate that Plex team isnt sure what road they want to take business wise but at least one can unpin all of this podcast/vod/tv nonsense. But when I looked at the layout on folder view I was baffled, I almost cried from cringe. I was almost ready to buy the pass and now Im so dissapointed. Im 100% sure that this is intentional to stop using own library and show all of the subscription based solutions in better light. And about 50% sure that this is purely non technical investor made decision. Im also afraid this wont actually kill plex but will slowly change userbase to people with different needs. So we can cry as much we want, they know exactly what they want to do and Im removing plex from my nas, thats a pity because media tagging engine is nice.

The inability to modify the view in Plex is tantamount to someone exerting control just because they can. I have a pretty large library, almost 2000 movies, hundreds of TV shows, pictures, and music. With over 100TB of storage space I have a lot invested in my system. I got a Plex pass fairly early on when using Plex simply because I wanted to support you guys. Now, I have to admit that if I was just starting out, I would keep looking for a media manager that considered the end user’s needs.

I’ve installed Plex years ago and it seemed to be the best app for home cloud multimedia center. Now I’m not sure about that choice. Sometimes is this app more experimental than stable and I think that developers can’t understand the needs of many conservative users. It’s nice to have features for streamed content, but what about personal galleries or folder views. All the content simply cannot be added into collections and/or sorted by offered categories… I’m deciding to leave that app, because simple DLNA will be more well arranged for now.
