Prerolls Quit Working

Nope still doesn’t fix it.

@JasonsPlex is it? I guess they never going to fix it. I believe Plex want to force us to play trailers. may be they are getting some income out of it

YouTube ad Revenue from their YouTube channel :rofl:

Updated to latest Ubuntu version and Pre-rolls still arent playing.

Are we really having to get users to change trailer settings on all their clients just to get a pre-roll to play? Surely people will just stop using this feature to avoid the headache.

The previous functionality of this feature was perfectly fine

I know the developers are aware of the issue but it’s not clear when that issue will be addressed based on another thread I’m following. I’m hopeful they will resolve it, i’ve personally created over 30 “intros” for my Plex and if I have to try to tell everyone I share with how to turn them back on (especially given the aptitude of technical prowess of some of them) I don’t think many will be admiring my work further.

Preroll stopped working. I noticed in the extras section that multiple prerolls must now be separated by commas, not semicolons as in earlier versions. Changed all semicolons to commas, still broke. Changed client settings Play Trailers to 1. Now client plays 1 random trailer from web and then all 10 of my prerolls. They need to fix this.

As @Anuruddha says this is still the best choice IMHO. Now that I have switched from Windows to Linux, not only have I gotten rid of all “dual version” 4K HDR files, the PMS is not automatically updating itself.

So, maybe, for the rest of my life, I will never switch from PMS 1.23.3.4706 as it works great, does everything I need, and I would say we would all agree: it’s the last best fully functional version of PMS that Plex ever made

This worked for me. Thanks for the suggestion.

It’s been a few days.

So I feel ok to ask now…

Is it planned to restore the pre-roll handling behavior from PMS 1.23.3.4706 and earlier to future PMS versions?

I keep checking this forum for news on this too. So frustrating.

Dear Plex: You messed this one up big time. It was so simple and it worked. Pre-rolls are no longer playing. Server admins should be able to force pre-roll on whatever libraries they want, regardless of the dumb trailer options.

Why did you have to get rid of 4k HDR files?

I should clarify. I kept a 1080p SDR copy of every 4K HDR file in my Windows PMS. Now I’m on Linux, I don’t, and I got rid of the 1080p files.

Ahh ok, but why did you get rid of them thats what I want to know, was there playback issues what?

Yes on windows there are playback issues of 4K HDR files… they do (practically for intents and purposes) not tone map whereas on Linux they do. Thus a need for 1080p copies in Windows, but not in Linux.

Ahh ok, I keep a copy of both and Plex normally is very good at only playing the 1080p version for remote users

This sucks has there been any feedback from Plex as to why its not working and if it will work again?

People spend time and sometimes money making these things and they just stop supporting it?

The answer is “Yes.”

That worked for me. Many thanks for the suggestion

Please check out the new beta release for PMS
