I am trying to understand why if the recording goes past 1 hr it takes up to 14 hours for it to finish the recording… often it is still running at 6 am the next morning and will not even let you watch live tv while it is still spinning?
Make sure intro, commercial and any audio detection is disabled.
how do I do that… and why cant those be on… is my system not powerful enough?
These are all heavy cpu tasks, probably a bit too much for a 1.3 GHz Marvell ARMADA385 Cortex A9 Dual-Core to finish in under an hour.
Intros: Skip TV Show Intros | Plex Support
Commercials: Removing Commercials | Plex Support

I found everything except the allow skip commercials button.
That is not a setting. The button appears if intro detection has already been run. Showing the button takes no cpu power. Skipping the intro itself does not require cpu power, it’s only the initial detection.
I don’t think these have anything to do with the issue you are having.
I again tried to record a football game yesterday. It Is still running and I can’t use the tuner. Here is the download. Please help fox this. Going on a month of it doing this Plex Media Server Logs_2021-08-30_06-32-05.zip (6.6 MB)
also my apple tv shows that it tried to record 7 games not just one… says all of them are over 3 hours but you cant play them… the one game that you can play you can only play 43 min of it even though I set it to record the whole thing…
Your issue is still being investigated by the devs. I don’t have any update.
Edit - Your latest symptoms sound like they are related. Basically the recordings are not stopping when they should so the files themselves are wrong but the information being saved by PMS is based on the recording schedule so it thinks everything is fine.
I recorded 2 shows this week, worked ok, it seems fine if it has one show to record on one night… two shows in one night it runs and runs
Ok I am at wits end… I feel like I have a $400 paper weight… just plain and simple is the EX2 ultra not usable as a plex server… I went off recommendations from plex, youtube, and amazon that this would work but now as I look further more and more I am finding posts on reddit etc that say this just doesn’t work…???
There is a bug. Please be patient while the team works on a fix.
I installed update last Friday. Tried to record last night. Ran all night when I checked it said 460% recorded. I need this to start working? Including new logs advise please. Plex Media Server Logs_2021-09-15_12-42-24.zip (3.8 MB)
I really would like to have the ability to record fall tv. based on PLEX recommendations on what will work with the system and the lifetime membership to plex I have over $700 between the WDEX2 and the HD Homerun and antenna. Right now all I can do is watch LIVE tv which is what I can do with the HD homerun by itself. I really would like it to work considering 2 and 1/2 months ago. I am sorry I dump all of this on you, but who else can I talk to? This is all the customer support I can find… if there is somewhere or someone else please let me know. thank you
Hoping you received my last two emails? Thank you
Yup, saw them. I don’t have nay update. The team is still looking into this.
any updates? Thank you
I do not have an update. The issue is filed with the team and the investigation is still ongoing.
I’m afraid there are numerous very significant Live TV/DVR problems that have gone on for months/years. Given that it just doesn’t work for you and your purchase is relatively recent, I would suggest asking for a refund since I am doubtful that you will ever get any value for your lifetime pass. I know I haven’t and regret trusting Plex with my money.
Almost any other DVR software is better than Plex at the moment, including free ones.
thank you I am going to do just that
