Remote Access Problems with Fire TV Stick 4K (Connection failed + Server doesn't have required conditions)

Server Version#: 1.24.2.4973 (Synology NAS)
Player Version#: newest version (Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K)

I don’t know if this is a “Plex Media Server” problem, a “Remote Access” problemt or a “Plex Players” problem. I hope the category “Remote Acess” is ok.

In general the Remote Access is working fine. No problems with iPhone / iPad.

But an Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K regularly causes problems. Sometimes everything works and a day later the Plex App on the Fire TV Stick 4K can’t connect to the server.

Can someone help me to fix this?

Translated in english:

Something went wrong.

It seems like something went wrong. Please try again.

To try again is not helping. But if you close (force stop) the Plex app on the Fire TV Stick 4K…

[Settings → Applications → Manage Installed Applications → Plex → Force stop]

…and then start the app again, the app connects to the server and everything is working fine. But you have to do it nearly every day…

Just to be sure:

Is it maybe a problem, that the user of the Fire TV Stick 4K pauses a playback (without stopping / exiting it via return button) and than leaves the playback paused, while watching normal tv? The playback is paused until the tv is turned off. And on the next day the app can’t connect to the server until the app is force stopped an restarted.

Can this paused playback be an issue?

Leaving an indefinite-paused playback will cause problems because the network connections are live on one side but become stale (non-usable) on the other.

I recommend setting a timer limit on the server to forcibly terminate any playback sessions which have been paused longer than XX minutes.

You’ll keep the server and app happy as well as teaching your friend/family not to leave it paused anymore.

Thanks for your answer. Wich value would be recommended for the automatic termination? Would 60 minutes be ok? Or would 30 minutes be better?

If this fixes the connection problems, i will mark your post as the solition in a few days. Otherwise i will write again, if the connection problems aren’t fixed.

Sadly this did not help. Even if the playback is stopped manually via return button on the Fire TV Stick remote or if the Playback is stopped automatically after x minutes. The next Day the Plex App can‘t connect to the Server unless the App is restarted (force stopp) in the Fire TV Stick Settings. After the force stop everything works fine.

Can anyone help? What could cause this problem? What logs do you need?

This fixed the problem:

Edit:
See the next post. Two more things to fix the problem.

Finally the problem is completely fixed:

Additionally to the mentioned network settings i had to deactivate Remote Access, so that only the Custom server access URLs are used to connect to the server. Thanks, @SwiftPanda16.

And i had to add the port to the Custom server access URLs.
