A feature I used recently has now disappeared!
The ability to go to music playback options and check (or uncheck) a box to shuffle or stop shuffling playback from the currently playing song.
Now, if I want to change my shuffling options, I have to either go all the way out of the queued music to the beginning of the the playlist and choose to shuffle or play from the beginning! WTF???!
Actually, Iām an IT engineer with the knowledge and skills I need to build my own media server, and Iām considering whether or not I want to personally take on such an extreme solution.
I have my own Linux distribution, so I have to consider if I have the time to work on a project of this sort. It would be much easier if PLEX got the message from their community and rolled back to the old interface. Thatās the beauty of versioning systems, and I would be quite surprised if PLEX didnāt use versioning systems like any modern software company would.
The new interface on the Roku Plex app royally sucks. The previous interface was so much more useful. It has basically made the Plex app unusable. CHANGE IT BACK ROKU!!!
Save your breathe and do what I did. DO NOT WASTE ANY MORE OF YOUR TIME ON THIS INDIVIDUAL. Go to your Users tab under Account Preferences in the forum and Mute them like I did.

@McWanke do you think Plex would be willing to do what they did before and create a PlexRetro or Plex Classic channel for Roku users who want the older interface back until the new one is more stable and responsive? EOL for Plex Retro for Roku
I agree! I can usually adapt pretty quickly but this is absolutely the worst update I have ever experienced in any program. Almost unusable! In addition to it being basically unusable, a glitch is that every time I select Libraries it goes back to the Roku home menu. Holy cow this is atrocious.
My latest issue with this update.
PMS or the client getting hung up on transcoding 5.1 audio on a series when an episode ends and it tries to play the next one. But you can skip or hit the next/ back button and it plays normally.
UI issue. what is the point of having a grid for the series, when youāre in the series looking at episodes? Seriously, the mind boggling dumb decisions made with the app are endless
Uninstall and reinstall the app from fresh. It will work, but the UI will still be as bad.
Seriously, why is this guy carrying water so hard for Plex? There are always one or two contrarians in these forums, and heās absolutely one of them.
Still no theme music. The option is there, with even more volume choices, none of them work.
Unfortunately, the new update is disliked by all who are on my server, and each person finds it confusing and difficult to use.
This reminds me when Microsoft forced a change to Windows 8 from Windows 7. They made really bad changes and fortunately corrected alot of their bad moves. So far it doesnāt seem Plex is willing to do the same. at least not yet.
One person has a Roku TV and they cant get the āRecently Releasedā sections I specified on my server. Instead they get the default Plex stuff even after signing out then back in and restarting. One thing works for one updated person, but not the other.
Sorry Plex, this new look is very bad. Please roll back.
None of the options work. After the update Plex on Roku will not connect 90% of the time to any library. If uninstall the app and reinstall it MIGHT work for 1 show but then it quits again. It finally quit 100% today. It will no longer connect.
@cjbrv Another Roku user found that going to the Libraries listing, scrolling all the way to the right, and setting libraries as Favorites, solved the issue of the server being unavailable. Very odd. Iāve also seen another user remark that this āfixā wasnāt permanent. It may revert back to being unavailable.

The new Apple TV app is in beta. Best to turn off automatic updates if you want to avoid the rollout experience.
I donāt know what to do. My 75 year old mother has quit using Plex to see my server because she ājust canāt find the folders with her movies and shows.ā For her, she doesnāt think of libraries as where the content is until she remembers that that is what I told her. She had never seen the term library on Plex before, or at least in a way where it had anything to do with her Movies and Shows. My kids canāt navigate to find Bluey. My son is struggling to see his Anime, because it isnāt one of the 5 allowed libraries that show up.
So now I run a server instead of for my family and I, it is just for me. So what options do I have? Start yelling at my family because the system changed and they canāt find it? I feel pushed into Jellyfin, and I donāt want to do it. But my family needs to be able to see the content I am hosting for them.
I have never posted here and typically donāt mind the occasional āfor user benefitā that plex sometimes pushes out from time to time.
But this update has me completely pissed off in my user experience now. I donāt need to pile on the specifics, they have been clearly outlined in previous posts.
Just putting in my 2cents, please revert, make it easy to revert, or make options for those of us who miss what Plex used to be prior to 2 weeks ago. I want MY MEDIA up front and center. Not a crapload of uninteresting tv shows and thumbnails that donāt stand a slight chance of a click. It seems unanimous. FIX IT. Thank you
Can already be done in the new UI
ā¦which exactly means that it is not by default. Please visit my Mom and set up her devices accordingly. Or post a detailed step by step HOW-TO (aka the Ultimate Guide of putting Personal Media up front and center) here in a way that 86-old ladies usually get what you mean. THAT would be helpful.
No need to visit your mom. Disabling of Plex Content is and ever was an account level setting, that you can easily set for her from the browser.
