Secure Server Connections after change psw

Server Version#: 1.20.1.3252

Hello everybody,
today I changed the password to my account and therefore I had to reassociate all my devices and servers, but from that moment I am no longer able to make the server with the secure connection (green lock), I don’t know what a saint to call. I’ve tried them all. why such a thing?

Can anyone help me?

I am experiencing the same issue. Changed my password 2 days ago (Sept 29 morning EST) and have tried just about everything I can think of to resolve this.

None of our local or remote clients seem to be able to connect securely anymore (iOS, Xbox One X, Roku, Web with Brave/Safari/Firefox). So far I have tried restarting the Plex Server, the Synology device it’s on, upgrade to Plex 1.20.2, reboot router, reboot all clients, change public DNS provider from Cloudflare to Google, uncheck IPv6 settings in Plex server settings, remove all authorized devices from my account and re-authenticate them.

Could there be an issue with the plex.direct service, or perhaps the hash/port number that my plex server is using to access it? The only errors in my server log are curl requests failing to plex.direct.

(public IP and hash redacted)

Oct 01, 2020 11:41:27.324 [0x7f64517d1700] DEBUG - HTTP requesting GET https://255-255-255-255.HASH.plex.direct:1025/identity
Oct 01, 2020 11:41:30.325 [0x7f64517d1700] ERROR - Error issuing curl_easy_perform(handle): 28

According to https://status.plex.tv/ there was a plex.direct cert issue on Sept 28. Related?

Happy to run more tests or provide details if this can help.

Hi, glad I’m not the only one, damn that day I changed my password.
I did all the tests you did too, no changes to insecure connections anywhere.

It annoys me that I have been a plex pass user for 6 years now and there is no customer support …

Another user having the same issue here after changing password: No remote Access after changing password

Thanks, we hope some developers will read and give us a hand.

Same here. Cannot connect securely after password change. I’ve gone through all the forum posts and tried everything I can think of to no avail. Someone please help…

Please make certain DEBUG logging is enabled and VERBOSE logging is disabled.
SAVE any changes (at the bottom).

Restart PMS
Wait 2 minutes (let it sit idle)
Download the logs and attach the ZIP file please.

I will look at what’s going on.

Possible outcomes here:

  1. Certificate reset
  2. Slightly more involved by forcing to “Preferred” status until condition cleared.

Hi ChuckPA,

Here are the log files as requested. Hope this helps. Thanks for the quick response.

Thank you for the logs.

I am going to reset the certificate even though I do not think it’s the problem

Please stop the server now.

In my next post, I’ll have reset the certificate.
You can restart the server after that.

While the server is off, update your Date & Time with NTP time daemon.
It does appear to be out of sync.

I would appreciate knowing the outcome.

If not working then there is more for the operations and plex.tv teams to do beyond what I can do.

Your certificate has been reset.

Please start the server

I am having a similar, if not identical, issue.

Changed my password, reclaimed my server, but unable to connect to it securely.

Error logs show the server is unable to retrieve a cert from the cloud.

Oct 04, 2020 13:07:58.415 [0x7f0a0f7fe700] ERROR - CERT: Could not fetch certificate from the cloud: 404

Wondering if this is the same issue.

HI ChuckPa,

That did it!! Thank you very much!! Secure connections are now all working for me locally and remotely. I really appreciate your help. 5 out of 5 stars from me.

Hope this helps everyone else as well.

Thanks @ChuckPa for the support, kind and fast.

@captainsockpuppet

I am sorrry I didn’t see this until now
Yes, that’s the fingerprint.

Cerfificate for HTPX has been reset
You may restart it.

I am experiencing the same issue now too. Yesterday I reset my password, then I couldn’t seen any of my libraries. I disassociated all of my devices, logged back in and rebooted server. Now my rokus work fine, but on my PC, I get a message on each library that it couldn’t be connected to securely. Is there a self help solution here? Or Do I need to get a dev involved to help me out? Please Help.

Is this something you can try for me as well? It is a very frustrating issue and I am not sure what I can do from my end. Any help would be hugely appreciated!

@TotallyJuvenile

Nothing for you to do.

I’ve reset the certificate.

Now you can restart it

@ChuckPa I just reset my account password, and am having the exact same issue with my Plex server. If I could initiate the cert reset from my side, I’d try that. Could you help me out as well please?

@ChuckPa Hey, same exact issue, reset my pw a couple days ago and now can’t access without allowing insecure connections. Any help would be super appreciated, can’t find any fix from my end the last few days of troubleshooting . Thanks!

@ppwaskie @YoDaKryllOut

You didn’t “Sign out all devices” while on Plex.tv, did you?

May I see the logs, immediately after startup (about 2 minute delay) ?
