Subtitle offsets not available in Android Plex player

According to the following page subtitle offsets should be available on my mobile plex app
However, they are not in the playback settings menu (external SRTs are shown, tested on multiple files with external SRTs)

https://support.plex.tv/articles/subtitle-offsets/

I an using android, so it shouldn’t be a plex pass feature like it is for appletv
(on the plex pass page itself it is also not mentioned as a feature you have to buy)

is there a way to enable it, or is the feature hidden elsewhere in the menus? Or is it broken?

Edit: It does look like a Plex Pass is required. I signed into the mobile app with a non-Plex Pass account and Adjust Subtitle Offset is not displayed / available.

Unsure if this is a bug or a lack of documentation.

Maybe somebody from Plex can weigh in with additional details.

AFAIK this is not a Plex Pass feature. I’ve Plex client v7.31.0 on Pixel 3a XL / Android 10.

Buried a few levels deep.

During playback:

  1. tap the screen to pull up on-screen controls.
  2. select vertical ellipsis in lower right corner
  3. select Playback Settings
  4. select Adjust Subtitle Offset

That’s pretty much where I expected it to be, but unfortunately it isn’t

I’m on Android 9 and have a slightly lower version number (but latest version):

I see:

Yes. Just noticed same and updated my post.

Ah! Thanks, so it is there, but (maybe incorrectly) requires a plex pass
I know the appleTV one requires it, but it’s specifically stated for that one (and not for the other supported players, nor on the plex pass feature list)

Would love to hear from Plex on this. If it is working as intended I’ll just have to wait a little more till I can afford a lifetime one :stuck_out_tongue:

Ran a quick test with a FireTV 4K Stick (AndroidTV).

Adjust Subtitle Offset appears with both a Plex Pass and non-Plex Pass login.

So possibly tied to the mobile app activation process?

But given what is in docs, still don’t know if a Plex Pass is required or if you found a bug.

Need to hear from Plex.

I got the subtitle offset setting ion the xbox one app and on the web version but not on my android devices neither on mi box s (android tv) even in the lastest beta versions. No plex pass.

I have the same problem, android app is updated to the latest version and i dont have the option to offset when i stream to chromecast.
I would like to know if it is connected to plex premium or plex pass because i am willing to play double the price just for that option

I’m missing the subtitle offset on both the web player in chrome and the android app. Both logged in with a plex pass account.

Not supported.

It only works with external

chromecast isn’t supported.

Can you escalate this internally please? The original topic (now 2 months old) is about subtitle offsets not working in Android without a plex pass, which isn’t working as shown in https://support.plex.tv/articles/subtitle-offsets/

Also have some doubt about Chromecast not being supported since that’s controlled from the android app, but that’s not the main bug/issue.

It does work without a PlexPass. just tried with with my non-pp test account. Are you still running 7.30?

If the file is transcoding then the subs are being burned in and it won’t work either.

I’m playing original quality, on the android app, with external subs, and there is no subtitle offset.

My android app says version 8.1.2.18135 (cb28855c)
server version Version 1.19.4.2935 (latest)

OK. I’m gonna have to look more into it. Not sure what is going on.

Could you please post here after you do your investigation? I would really like to know if i can use that option with android app/chromecast with plex pass or ont. Thanks

Yes, I think it is really a bug for android and while you are solving this bug. It is maybe not a bad idea to also support subtitle offset in the chrome web version, because for any strange reason it is not available there, but it is available when you start the ‘Plex media server’ interface, which is also opened via chrome.
But if the android problem could be solved, it would already be great, because then you are probably able to use the offset for chromecast either (just like already is possible when streaming to chromecast via the ‘Plex media server’ interface.

This should be working now. (might have to restart app)
