For the web player, both work.
Only the Android Plex App shows:
when connected to some remote networks
Not sure what the Android App uses, just asks for a login, an select user.
Guessing it is managing logins via plex.tv

While dicking around some more, opening plex.tv in a browser and then clicking on “Start Streaming” it opens the Plex App and connects properly to the PMS and loads all the content
I have absolutely no clue what’s going on now, but seems fixed
Gonna ask my brother to try the same workaround once he’s back and report the results.
It almost sounds like the Android app which is installed need re-install
and then linking again as a new device. (Some of my iPhone apps do the same thing from time to time)
Admittedly I am not the most tech savvy person you will deal with daily but when they started offering up Plexamp and its awesomeness I figure you’ll probably run into more people like me.
I have been using it for a few months and mostly have no issue. I did keep seeing an alert that said “no remote access” YET I was able to access with Plexamp. Yesterday or the day before I sat about trying to port forward, etc to provide “remote access” and GREAT SUCCESS. Then, oddly, Plexamp no longer saw my home server?! Today there was an update, which I diligently updated to, then my server no longer has “remote access” but LO! behold, again I am able to use Plexamp. I are confused. Above I have yesterdays Logs and today I have attached the freshest of logs.

This is indeed confusing because your logs are telling me two things:
Sep 27, 2023 19:28:56.788 [2160] DEBUG - [EventSourceClient/pubsub/45.56.91.121:443] PubSub: Got notified of reachability for async identifier 0530b640-3e88-4684-b56b-150c617f2704: 1 for XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:32400 (responded in 0 ms)
reachability for async identifier 0530b640-3e88-4684-b56b-150c617f2704: 1
(Yes)
what’s showing you no remote access and. SILLY question , did you refresh the display ?
I did refresh the site and it still shows those two results but again, I can access my library with the app. But yesterday when it said I could be reached, I, in fact, could not reach the server. So weird …
Try one thing in your settings – Turn RELAY off .
It is definitely weird.
Another thing you can do is force-terminate the player app(s) and then open again
Then it’s a major coincidence that both the Apps on my bother’s phone and my phone stopped working the same day. and a fresh install on my Fire tablet had the same issue.
Even upgrading the app on my phone a couple times did not fix it.
Something is very strange in Android land.
But thanks once again for the effort and time taken. Eventually pointed me to the right direction and I even learned a few new things along the way.
@ChuckPa
OK so now it won’t let me access the server and its saying the same thing " Not available outside your network". So the access is hit/miss. I’ve attached logs.

This is annoying. The biggest hindrance I have is that I don’t know anything about windows and its defensive mechanisms. I’m nearly an exclusively Linux guy.
I do know it likes to block stuff at a whim. (saw that with one user but don’t know context / details)
Yea and I don’t know a ton about networking so I’m also worried that it’s my ATT network blocking something as well. Do you know anyone on the team who is a windows expert that you can bring aboard to help? I’d really love to get back to using Plexamp. It’s literally my dream come true.
I should have better dreams…
I’m on AT&T Fiber and have a BGW-320. They are not blocking any of my traffic.
The BGW-320 does not support UPnP. Therefore, you must (a) have a fixed or router reserved IP address for your server and (b) configure port forwarding in the router.
Question: Is the Plex server connected directly to the router?
Question: Do you have any other networking devices in the network? For example, powerline extenders, mesh network hubs, etc.
Question: The IP address of your server is 192.168.1.223. Have you assigned that to your server in the IP Allocation section of the BGW-320?
Question: Have you configured port forwarding in the BGW-320 to forward incoming Plex traffic to your server?
If not, I can lead you through it. If you have, please post a screenshot of the port forwarding rule from the router’s NAT/Gaming page.
Hello. For about the past month, my remote access no longer seems to be working. It says “Your server is signed in to Plex, but is not reachable from outside your network.”
I’ve had no problems with it for a while and did not (to the best of my knowledge) do anything in Plex (other than took the latest update) to effect it. It just all of a sudden became no long available!
I have done what I feel comfortable doing in Plex setup and with my system (as I am not that familiar with network items (eg. uPNP, NAT-PMP, TCP, etc.)) but to no avail. I have manually specified a public port (32400)… which used to work but no longer does.
I am using StarLink as my internet provided… if that means anything.
I just have no idea what I need to do in order to get remote access back up and running. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
StarLink uses CG-NAT IP addressing, which is incompatible with Plex remote access. It places the Plex server in a double-NAT situation.
Plex Relay should work, but will be limited to 2 Mbps. Such streams are displayed as Indirect in Plex Dashboard.
There are workarounds using VPNs and other means. However, I’ve never seen a complete “Guide to using Plex with StarLink” document.
Hopefully someone can point you in the right direction.
Question: Is the Plex server connected directly to the router?
My computer that is running Plex is plugged directly into the ethernet port on the BGW 320.
Question: Do you have any other networking devices in the network? For example, powerline extenders, mesh network hubs, etc.
No I am in a studio apartment, I don’t need anything. Or at least nothing that I’ve plugged in or am aware of being used.
Question: The IP address of your server is 192.168.1.223. Have you assigned that to your server in the IP Allocation section of the BGW-320?
I don’t think so but I think I might have just done it, see attached screenshot.
Please see two photos from my Nat/Gaming page on the router.
I see that in the Hosted Applications photo it says Plex is device ending in IP 221, NOT 223, but I can’t seem to find a way to adjust that to 223. The drop down menu below lists a bunch of options, none of them end in 223.
I really really appreciate your assistance. I am beyond stoked to have this working again.
@FordGuy61 I just tried to adjust the PLEX and it still didn’t move to 223.
My gut says that’s the missing piece? But it limits my drop downs, and none of them are .223.
Also not sure how to make sure that I have a fixed router reserved IP. Is that going to be automatic when I have it plugged directly into the ethernet?
You are in the wrong section for assigning IP addresses.
You do not want IP Passthrough. Set Allocation Mode = Off and Save.
Go to Home Network → IP Allocation.
You should see your server and its IP address listed in the left column, “IPv4 Address / Name.”
You then Allocate the address (rightmost column, “Action”). That ensures the router always assigns the same IP address to the server.
Then, make sure the IP Forwarding rule aligns with the allocated IP address. FYI, only 32400 is needed for the the Global Port Range (32400 - 32400).
I feel like we have to be getting closer.
I went back and changed allocation mode.
I went and allocated the IP
The IP Forwarding rules might be where I’m wrong. This drop down still doesn’t list .223 anywhere
So i went to Custom Services and I have two different PLEX ones (PLEX and PLEX1) but neither let me select the IP directly just the port.
I tried it and it didn’t work so then I went into plex and selected this to see if it helps but it did not.
But I’d like to think we are almost there but I’m just misunderstanding one last little thing?
Look at this post: Changed ISP - No Remote Access with AT&T BGW 320-500 - #3 by FordGuy61
OP on that post is using a manually assigned IP, not IP Allocation, but that does not matter.
Look how the port forwarding is configured.
You may first need to delete any exiting rules covering port 32400 and assigned to the IP address of your router.
