Suddenly Remote access isn't working - Outside network appears and then fails

I tried port forwarding, doesn’t help.

I Have ‘Both’ as the protocol.
I have no idea if that’ll make a difference.

Also, over in LAN/DHCP
I have my Server Machine’s IP Address (selected from a list) reserved.
I assume so it doesn’t go somewhere else on it’s own.
Again - a nearly total mystery to me…lol

Don’t. Use TCP only.

I’ll change that the next time - I can blow up the network.

I’m using it right now and remote access is working… sleeping gods and all that…

Same here. Nothing changed. Just stopped working for no apparent reason, been working for weeks. Guess just to wait it out.

I’m also experiencing the same issue. Used to work until very recently when it just dropped off. Port forwarding hasn’t changed.

Having similar sudden remote access issues…since a recent update was installed…

I’ve tried just about everything mentioned here with no success. Hoped the latest update i just installed would fix it, but didn’t. Been using PLEX for nearly 3 years now with NO issues…may be time to explore other home network streaming options…remote access is why I pay annually for the Plex Pass service…

Plex support, are you there??? can you hear us??? Your service is useless to me without remote access…

When I have this happen, I just reboot the Plex server. That seems to fix it.

Has everyone opened their Windows Firewall ‘Allow an App through’ rules thingy and made sure “Plex” isn’t set to Public - only Private? <—just ‘Plex’… as far as I know.

A recent update changed that here at my house - it didn’t blow me out of the water, but I hear it can.

my plex is enabled in the firewall but still having the same issue any ideas mate?

I checked this and box public and private are already ticked. No change here. Fresh Windows install as well - still not working.

Untick Public - is the recommendation. <— as shown.

My understanding is a Windows Update blew that one for us.

(one of those 'Plex’s is probably Plex for Windows - which one? Dunno - does Plex?)

I have the same issue as you, @jnjnelson - except I don’t have iTunes (ever, on any device).
Remote Access was working, I updated, no it doesn’t work. Nothing else has changed. Nothing.

Fixed it !
I seemed to have the double NAT issue. See Double-NAT in the article: Troubleshooting Remote Access

I added also port forwarding on my Bell Modem (took me a while to find it on the Bell 3000 HUB) and now Plex remote works!.

Ah, this has fixed it for me. Disabling public network access via the Windows firewall has restored remote access.

mines just suddenly started working again not sure what happened but its staying green now

Yeah, I have gone and tried all the suggested solutions only after troubleshooting for 3 days now. Nothing works. I am not in a double nat situation. I have been running plex for years without this issue. Nothing on my router has changed. Nothing was changed in plex. I have tried UpNp Still nothing. Port forwarding is how I have always been setup. I need this to work. I share with my elderly mom who cannot leave her house right now due to the dang virus. I have tried going back to an earlier version without any success. I have uninstalled windows updates. I am now running under a fresh install of Windows 10 and still no luck.

Have a look at this post in the thread Remote access failure to check if your server is accessible.

If you can remotely configure your mother’s Plex client you could manually specify your Plex server to use the uri identified by using the steps in the link.
