The Great (2020) season metadata not pulling through

Server Version#: 1.24.5.5173
Player Version#: 4.70.0

I’ve just added Season 2 of TV Show The Great (2020) theTVDB ID 369301, so PMS has refreshed all metadata using the new-ish Plex TV Series scanner/agent.

Now both season 1 and 2 metadata is completely empty. No season posters, episode names, proper thumbnails, summaries, etc… Previously (on the old scanner/agent) Season 1 was perfectly fine.

Metadata for the show itself is there. Title, poster/background artwork, description, theme music, etc. are good. It’s just the seasons metadata is missing.

Have you tried manually refreshing the show’s metadata?

Numerous times, yes. Also preformed the Plex Dance™ with the show but no dice.

Could you please provide some server logs.

I can see it failing to match in the log but you don’t have debug logging enabled so the information is too sparse. Could you enable Debug logging as described here: Reporting issues with Plex Media Server | Plex Support

Then refresh the metadata for the show again and grab fresh logs.

Your filenames, while not ideal (see Naming and Organizing Your TV Show Files | Plex Support for recommended file naming scheme), should still match according to my testing.

Thanks for looking into this for me.

Apologies, I’ve now enabled debug logging and refreshed metadata for the show. Here’s the new server log.

Thanks!

I can see some oddities with the show on our end, I’m investigating and will get back to you when I know more.

Looking into this and it appears to be an issue on the TVDB api. Somebody else has already filed a bug report for this so we’re just waiting for a response from them.

could this be affecting other shows right now?

Ran plex dance on Sesame Street and no episode metadata is being pulled

Yes, it’s affecting multiple shows.

TVDB has just responded to the ticket, you can follow here if you’re interested: Seasons/Extended Endpoint is down · Issue #152 · thetvdb/v4-api · GitHub

Lol 52 season sesame street does fall under “very long series”

Just had this happen to DC’s Legends of Tomorrow - new agent strikes again. Started with two episodes just added and identified as “Episode 6 and Episode 7” so i rolled my eyes refreshed metadata, metadata, posters gone from entire show. now.

Hoping this gets sorted soon.

tagging in here that I’m experiencing this issue as well. with the same show.

Tagging as I am experiencing the same issues with Flash & Legends.

I get the same issue all the time… I edit my TV Show section and change the scanner to TVDB and then rescan it and then change it back previously. easy fix

How do you edit a specific shows metadata agent?

You edit the TV Show section, then go to advanced, then change the agent to TVDB. Then scan your tv show that Plex couldn’t find be selecting Fix match and then it will find the correct TV Show.

You can leave it at TVDB like I do but you get the annoying warning to update the library but I ignore it, The Plex TV Series agent doesn’t always do a good job and finding content. For example there was a new TV Series that Plex couldn’t detect and the TV series was in fact in TVDB. You can even force Plex scanner to find it by copying the TVDB number in the search field and it still won’t recognized it. You switch the agent to TVDB and it finds it right away… Plex recommended Scanner which they will bug you to upgrade is not that great.

You mentioned a workaround in the GitHub ticket, when would the workaround be implemented?

Thank you @Sillyvainplex , I don’t like that I have to do this, but your change certainly fixed the current series that were not finding their match. I think the constant reminder to upgrade the library would drive me insane, what actually happens if you do upgrade the library? Or is that Plex’s way of saying, use our agent instead?
