Indeed, I checked it, but it doesn’t work for me either. I had the idea that recently it went quite ok. New albums from Ryan Adams and the Midnight appeared for me the day it was released. Odd…
Is this it? I searched Stranger Things 4 and this showed up for Tidal. I access Tidal directly through Plex and not adding Tidal artists to Plex (don’t have my own Music library).
No, it’s this
and here’s the search on Plex

as it is cut off, it finds season 1, 2, 3, and some halloween stuff.
Edit: I don’t see songs from that album when they are part of a playlist. I can’t find it via search and the whole album doesn’t show up under my music > albums after I added it in Tidal.
@Asathor, I can duplicate your problem. The album is available in Tidal, but Plex can’t see it. (not in the search bar and not by adding to a Tidal playlist then viewing in Plex). Just curious, are there any songs here exclusive to this album?
Usually, the album will be viewable in plex in a day or two after release, but sometimes it takes a few weeks to cycle in. I’ll add this to my playlist & report back if/when it shows up.
Meanwhile, I’ve got another problem that has returned: when I try to add a few new Tidal songs into my library, the song gets added to the bottom of my DVR Schedule Recording Priority list instead of my music library.
When this happened in the past, within a day or two, I can search for a different version in the plex search bar, and it works. But I’ve got 4 cases now of new songs released lately that can’t be added. (single releases from Aug12-Sep9).
@vanstinator : You’ve been a massive help in the past on these Tidal issues. Can you fact check me on this one? Can you add any of these Tidal tracks to your Plex library? I can play them via Plex, but can’t add them to my library - they just go to DVR scheduler.

Thanks.
It’s been a few weeks, and I wondered if @vanstinator was still around to help with the albums & tracks not showing up in Plex? @elan is there anyone who can help on the Plex team?
I’ve got several examples of albums in Tidal that are not viewable in Plex:
“Stranger Things: Soundtrack from the Netflix Series, Season 4 by Various Artists on TIDAL” (July2022)
“Greater: Live At Chapel by Planetshakers on TIDAL” (Sep2022)
“this is our Christmas album by Switchfoot on TIDAL"” (Nov2022)
And I’ve got these tracks that can be seen & played in Plex, but cannot be added to my library; instead, they are added to my DVR Recording Schedule Priority list. (image above)
“He's Coming by Les Carlsen on TIDAL” (Aug2022)
“Surrounded (Fight My Battles) by Neon Feather on TIDAL” (Sep2022)
“I Wanna Know You by Les Carlsen on TIDAL” (Sep2022)
“Burn the Witches by Maylene and the Sons of Disaster on TIDAL” (Sep2022)
It seems like we get more traction on this issue when we compare the TIDAL playlist “New Arrivals” in Tidal vs Plex. So, here’s this week’s comparison: 60 tracks on Tidal vs 54 via Plex. A couple more tracks may sneak in over the weekend, but it’s still under 60.

Any help you can lend would be much appreciated. Let me know if you need other examples or more info. Thanks for all you do.
I don’t want to let this request die, so I’ll add a new album to the list.
“this is our Christmas album” by Switchfoot shows up fine in the Tidal App and I was able to add to a Tidal playlist and play it from there.
However, if I search for Switchfoot in Plex the album isn’t visible. Likewise, when I pull up my Tidal playlist in Plex none of the tracks from this album are visible. They’re just gone!
Little discrepancies like this make it really difficult to justify investing time integrating Tidal into my Plex music library. That integration sounds great on paper and it is when it works, but it’s simply to clunky to rely on it.
@Corey_Jeppesen: thanks for posting. I agree with you. I called out this Switchfoot record in the most recent post in this thread (see directly above), but it’s great to know someone else is feeling the pain of this missing album, too.
I can add a bunch more:
“ENDLESS HALLWAY by He Is Legend on TIDAL”
“God, Family, Country (Deluxe Edition) by Craig Morgan on TIDAL”
“Replay by The Outfield on TIDAL”
“I'm a Beast by Pettidee on TIDAL”
“If You're Going Through Hell by Country Goes Metal on TIDAL”
“Christmas Truce by Iron 501 on TIDAL”
I’ve found a few more, but you get the point. All these are playable in Tidal, but cannot be seen, played, or added in Plex. I’ve tagged the president & the most recent plex ninja to help, but no recent response. Not sure what else I can do. I figure one day a more popular album will be released & there will be more users to chime in to concur that they can’t add it to their Plex library. For now, all my favorite indie bands seem to be getting overlooked in this issue. But, I’m not giving up yet – this integration is still the coolest thing in the world, when it works.
I have this issue with the compilation album “The Art of McCartney” (various artists). I can only see two of the tracks in Plex (both by the band Heart). I’ve tried everything and the only way I can see those two tracks in Plex is by looking at a Tidal playlist I created from the album. The rest of the tracks are not visible in Plex or Plexamp. I hope they find a solution to this issue.
I’m constantly running into the issue of things missing from Tidal. For example, when I search Parius, I get no hits in Tidal through Plex (I can find it in Tidal, though it is way down the list of results). When I search the new album title, The Signal Heard Throughout Space, Plex finds the Album and I can then navigate to the Tidal artist page that way. Now, the previous Parius album, The Eldritch Realm, I had added to my local Plex library years ago. I get an error trying to play it, but the album within Tidal view plays just fine. So I re-ad that album, and now my local Plex library shows two versions of ‘The Eldritch Realm’, one of which will not play. I then deleted the album that gave an error.
I constantly run into tracks being skipped when I play music through Plexamp stations. I’m beginning to wonder if there is something similar going on with these missing tracks. Where somehow the data between Plex and Tidal are no longer in sync, requiring the album to be re-added. This is an extremely cumbersome task, I have to first figure out which tracks don’t work, and then manually go through and re-add them. IMO, there needs to be a way for this to happen automatically in the background.
@MongarEric: Same here. Frustrating, huh?
I listen to a smart playlist of “Songs I haven’t played in the last year,” and it’s constantly skipping Tidal tracks that have disappeared. My theory is the label/artist has to re-submit the whole album to Digital Service Providers when they want to update any metadata. So, if they add “artist X featuring artist y,” then the whole album is taken down & re-uploaded. This all happens behind the scenes & appears seamless to users of the platform, but I’m guessing Plex had a link to the specific album UPC on Tidal, and when a new UPC shows up, even if it’s the same album title, Plex can’t logically determine which UPC replaces the old one.
I go through the same “add new version” & “delete old version” at least once a week. In my experience, there’s always something slightly different about the metadata on the new album. (added apostrophe somewhere, release date, new featured artist spelling, new artwork is altered … tons of reasons).
HA..!!! As I was typing this, Plex wasn’t able to play this album by Memphis May Fire, so I had to re-search for the album (in Plex), and I added it. Notice the slight difference in album artwork: Here’s how my library looks: (ironically the darker & worse looking cover plays fine)
Adding insult to injury, occasionally when the replacement album is added to Tidal, I can’t add it to Plex. For example, I can’t add the current version of The Outfield: Replay to my Plex library.
“Replay by The Outfield on TIDAL”
Here’s my view in Plex … notice no content below the album artwork.
So, we wait.
Thanks for posting.
@vanstinator: Any updates? Can you help us out again?
I can confirm your case @yortdog, the Outfield’s album is empty within Plex, not in Tidal. I also encountered over time that Tidal albums suddenly do not work anymore. Apparently, the link with the Tidal album has been altered?
Just started using the integration with Tidal. Noticing the same problem and beyond annoying that is going this long.
Noticed some Smashing pumpkins didn’t appear.
It’s missing their latest album.
From Tidal:
Plex:
Any help with this? I just switched to Plex as my full time Media Server for Music.
But this is beyond annoying. I appreciate any help. Thanks!
Hey i noticed the new metallica showed up no problems. but the new Smashing pumpkins is still not showing up. And also the album Machina doesn’t have artwork. Don’t know where else to post for help.
Smashing Pumpkins - ATUM (missing album): ATUM - Act I & II by Smashing Pumpkins on TIDAL
Smashing Pumpkins - Machina (messed up artwork): Machina / The Machines Of God by Smashing Pumpkins on TIDAL
And these show fine on Tidal app just not on Plex.
It is an annoying issue. It’s better than it was, but sometimes random releases do not show up. Never became clear for me how this works…
@ecr80 : thanks for posting. I also use Plex as my primary source for my music library & I’m shocked this hasn’t been fixed. I haven’t heard from any employees since Elan’s post in May2022. To be fair, he did say they’ve made a “substantial improvement” with the bug, not “totally fixed.” Maybe they’re happy with 95% success. (making up a number, but I’ll bet it’s close… I have something every week that I can’t add). Again, saying that will all respect, because I don’t know what it takes behind-the-scenes to make this work. I just know it’s awesome when it does work, and I haven’t found any better way to marry my collection with the giant ocean of music available on streaming platforms ![]()
I can’t improve on my description of the problem, so besides giving more examples, I suppose we just need more users to chime in with concern.
For what it’s worth, my current measure of the problem: I’ve got a playlist in Tidal with 207 songs that can’t be added to Plex. I can see & play 75 of the tracks in Plex, but I get errors (documented above) when I attempt to add them to my library.
so yesterday they finally release the complete version of Smashing Pumpkins new album ATUM, and it still not showing on Plex at all.
Ok it seems they finally updated the album is showing on Plex.
Edit: actually no, I was excited to see the album show up on the list, but upon trying to listen found that it was blank, no track list.
I’m still waiting for an album by Josienne Clark from 2022 to show up in Plex. “Now & Then” has been on Tidal since its release but I’ve never been able to see it via Plex. Conversely, her most recent album, “Onliness”, appeared almost immediately.
This is very frustrating! As others have said - so much for the dream of a single unified interface for all our content - if I want to play that particular album, I have to revert back to the Tidal app.
