I am having a problem I just can’t figure out. I am using MakeMKV to rip my Star Trek: Enterprise blu-ray discs on WIndows 10. I then use Handbrake to convert them from 6GB mkv files to about 1.2 GB m4v files. I put them in my Plex media directory as shown below
/Videos
/TV Shows
/Star Trek Enterprise
/Season 1
Star Trek Enterprise - s01e01 - Broken Bow.m4v
. . .
Star Trek Enterprise - s01e26 - Shockwave Part 1.m4v
/Season 2
Star Trek Enterprise - s02e01 - Shockwave Part 2.m4v
Star Trek Enterprise - s02e02 - Carbon Creek.m4v
. . .
Star Trek Enterprise - s02e11 - Precious Cargo.m4v
. . .
The problem is that for Season 1 all the episode names show up correctly but for Season 2 the first 8 episodes show up as “Star Trek: Enterprise Season 2 Disc 1” (4 episodes) and “Star Trek: Enterprise Season 2 Disc 2” (4 episodes). From Episode 10 on the episode names appear correct.
I have tried the Plex Dance (remove media, scan, optimize database, etc.) but when I put the media back, they still show up that way.
The meta data in the m4v file has the bad name (e.g. “Star Trek: Enterprise Season 2 Disc 1”) but then so do the ones which are showing correctly. I tried editing the Title to be the episode title, but the bad name is still displayed.
I changed the Title in the m4v file and danced with Plex but the problem persists. I am now even more baffled because I know the “Season 2 Disc 1” string is not in the meta data of the file at all but it still shows up that way. I don’t think I even have Local Media assests enabled for TV Shows:
In the Plex Dance we are asked to “Clean Bundles” … this is the one step that I couldn’t figure out how to do. Am I missing a button/link somewhere in the settings?
“Clean bundles” is in the menu accessed by the three dots next to the word “Libraries” in the main menu. “Empty trash” is available both globally and for individual libraries while “Clean bundles” is global only.
