This change, the removal of Grid View, is crap. I’ll continue to check whether each future update brings back the functionality I want, and if I find that it doesn’t, I’ll uninstall the new update and reinstall 1.22.3.4523.
So far I’ve done this four times.
v1.23.1.4571 & v1.23.2.4625 & v1.23.2.4656 & v1.23.2.4707 are all broken, as far as I’m concerned.
usually don’t just “pile on” but I have to agree that this change for the folders view is crap. I use the folders view to organize when I’m on my server and the list just makes it so much harder to work with. Once the change to the folder is selected, even every item in the folder is listed in the same format and once I’m in a folder, it should revert to grid view. Sifting thru 250+ folders and then getting to the one with all the files, I should at least be able to revert that to a grid. Like many others, if this continues, I have alternatives that can fulfill my needs. Please fix this.
I’ve had to host a library-less PMS installation of an older version on my desktop just for browsing to be able to keep using grid view (1.22.3.4523 is the last “good” version). The fact that it still works fine there with any of my updated servers makes the change even more ridiculous because they’re just removing the option to show the exact same database information in a different manner. Nothing about the underlying database structure has changed that would necessitate this sort of restrictive and forced user interface change (the new “Randomly” sort option is even available when browsing updated servers with the older version). If I wasn’t able to host an older version to still use it on my computer I would probably have already cancelled my Plex Pass a while ago because being forced to use table view makes the program essentially useless for me.
sorry plex team but are you guys ■■■■■■■ seriously? first with the movies then a butload of complaints!!! and today i restart my system, same freaking thing with my music library now. SERIOUSLY WTF, if i want this kind of crap i will pay for spotify or netflix or some other lame ass streaming platform. if you want to add certain options that is oke. but if you do something because your boss thinks he had a good idea, and the next three months you get a butload of complaints about it? you dont just do the same thing to a different part of the system? oh i guess u really do that. sorry but i cant do ■■■■ with this interface and i am not going to pay for it anymore. 1 august my folder view is back again in grid view or i ain’t paying one euro more until this is fixed!
Add my voice to the thousands (?) of confused and outraged users! Not that I know anything about it, but I believed that good coding involved expanding options for users, not limiting them.
I also add my voice, I don’t understand the point of removing a display mode (whether it is heavily used or not), it just creates frustration for other users using that display mode. Can you reverse this? I don’t want to regret my lifetime pass
So…another reason to switch to Kodi!! Plex thinks they know how I want my media arranged? The more I use Plex, the more I have come to realize Plex doesn’t care what “paid” users want. Was Plex purchased by Apple, Google, or Microsoft? Or is plex reading their business plan?
Another update, and it’s still broken. Plex is still stubbornly insisting that it knows what’s best for me. I’m more stubborn, however. Back to 1.22.3.4523 I go, again.
Sooo, I cancelled my Plex Pass. But after a few days a took a subscribtion again. And after that i removed Plex from my PC and downgraded to 1.22.3.4523. Finally gridview again via folders! soo by now I understand plex wants me to never upgrade again?
