Update: looks like many of the series schedules was broken after all. Many had to be cancelled and re-scheduled in order to see the new episodes available, same for some movies. I am guessing Plex implemented a new EPG metadata provider (or XML table)
Also I can no longer schedule sports events recording only a specific team’s airings, in my case the Washington Nationals MLB games, currently I have to schedule either individual events or all MLB games. I checked MLS which has the same issue, I presume the new XML table/provider does not break down the events into participants in the header for the event, but rather keeps it as “Name/Type of event” rather than “Type” + “Participant A” vs. “Participant B” very much not useful, please address.
The issue of having long periods in the grid of “xxxxx Programming” should be fixed. The data has been purged and the cache should have expired now. It needs a full manual Guide refresh to resolve
The earlier channel lineup corrections need a DVR Deletion and re create (after a minute or two after delete) to pick up - please try to pick the Freeview OTA Broadcast lineups as these are the ones that have been addressed
is the issue with everything showing as new because it was not using season and episode data also fixed by a manual guide refresh or is there different steps to fix that. i woke up to 60 episodes of mickey mouse recording because it saw todays date airing as missing and it needed to record the whole marathon instead of seeing that already had all the seasons and episodes so far.
I’ve been watching this thread with bated breath since noticing the email that said this change was coming. Probably an easiest-case user, OTA channels in the US, but thought it worth mentioning that I pulled the update down today, and it looks like things actually went okay. Didn’t have to delete the DVR, didn’t have to reschedule programs. Needs some time to verify, but first glance says things actually worked and I’m getting good guide data. I know there are a lot of frustrated people here, and with good reason, but thought it would be useful to know that the world didn’t end for at least one user.
@sa2000 what about DVR recordings - have they been fixed too ?
Because I deleted recordings and tried to set them back up - it worked for one (Loose Women - ITV), but not for Eastenders (BBC1). When I try to set it for all new episodes, it says no upcoming shows scheduled - even though there is an episode airing right now. To get the DVR to record this episode, I had to delete the scheduled recording and manually record it.
Need to go back to original provider this is not ready for release. It is not even Beta quality. Don’t take away users main driver for having a PlexPass.
Here in the UK the EPG has changed, but we’re still seeing Uknown airings on a few channels, and as for going back to Gracenote, I’m afraid that’s definitely not possible, not now the EPG has gone live all over the globe!!
I originallyy only used the Plex Pass for my stored media to share it with remote users, then TV came along and now I share that too, but since the beta release of the EPG, there’s been a few bugs, I grant them that, but to release it still with bugs, that’s Plex’s commercial power that did that, I doubt others would’ve released it till we had finished testing it and getting it just right before the release date?
i think the reason its showing new is the epg cant get the season /episode so it throws a date into the name instead so plex thinks its new. i am noticing this with data that is more than 7 days out on cartoon network, it seems to not have the episode info so it throws the date in there and plex marks it as new and wants to record rick and morty. multiple times a night… Not sure the solution but that seems to be the issue.
Crappy Rovi guide data it is. Just updated my server with the tv tuners and after guide refreshed, one channel that carries LightTV has guide listings that are 3hrs off, showing everything in the guide 3 hrs earlier than it is actually broadcast. I’ve been submitting error reports to Tivo/Rovi for over a year to get them to fix it and it still hasn’t been corrected. Now my plex dvr guide is useless like my tivo on this channel.
Mismatched season and episode numbers, changing show names, marking old episodes as new is the hallmark of Rovi data. It is nowhere near as good as what Gracenote/Neilsen provides
While things look sort of “usable” now days I’ll say I’m tracking a ton of guide data issues (and in the process of filling out the form) the most frustrating is season/episode mismatches of shows we’ve got a back catalogue of for the kids.
For instance, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood shows this on the schedule:
I had a lot of issues with bugs with what the EPG guide displayed and the “recording scheduled” and the actual guide showing correct data after updating to 16.1. Manually deleting DVR and re-adding DVR with and manually refreshing the EPG guide did not help. I then deleted all recordings, the DVR, and removed all “authorized devices” and then re-added everything and most of those issues seem to have gone away for me.
That said, kids shows are the worst because they pack multiple episodes in and guides all
recognize them differently.
The old solution to that was to create your libraries as ‘personal media shows’ and plex would just dump the metadata from the guide into the database. The Gracenote data was always correct, but TVDB had a different episode numbering scheme that messed everything up.
It seems that PLEX has gone into major meltdown - world wide- as far as EPG related issues are concerned.
In Australia Since July the 1st 2019, we do not have any problems with EPG because PLEX solution was to REMOVE the free EPG that existed prior to that date and we are now forced to an EPG subscription based with an outsider provider (ICE Tv) at the cost of $36 dollars a year.
This was not part of the original deal. and all I can say to PLEX is: thanks for NOTHING.
I wish I knew that before I invested in a NVDIA shield, 2 HDHomerun tuners and now having to fork out extra money on a yearly basis. Really pathetic .
I get the feeling we are getting asked to do the QA on a product that is Alpha not even Beta quality never mind ready for release. Who do we complain to, considering we are paying fo this service?
