New EPG and release

So, for me, the NBA playoffs discrepancy is that Plex for some reason wants to record an airing at 5pm on NBATV (917) instead of the actual live recording on 808 at 2:30pm. Why in the world would it prioritize a later recording?

I know for me many of my channels (especially the ‘lower’ numbered channels) are incorrectly treated as SD instead of HD, so the default behavior tends to randomly ignore the actual airing you actually want recorded, and instead pick the re-air

I have referred this to our provider.

This appears an issue with the channel’s own schedule. See TV Schedule | Channel Finder | Shows, Episodes | Comedy Central

They have some airings showing as being 30 minutes instead of 45 minutes and this is reflected in our EPG

The EPG reflects what the channel is providing

EPG schedule data

The airing times in the www.cc.com schedule screenshots are for my timezone (BST)

Please let me know what zip code, lineup/guide name being used and what channels (numbers/names) are marked as SD instead of HD and let me know if there are multiple channel numbers for these - an SD and HD

Well, that is discouraging. Thanks for investigating.

Disney XD (906)

Duck Tales (2017)

Season 1 is a mess. There is two S01E23 with different titles. Then almost every other episode is shifted either one high or one low number wise. It appears only one single episode is correct in Season 1.

The new provided can’t come soon enough… Still not fixed and still requiring manual intervention…

It isn’t that the channel is marked SD instead of HD (or at least I don’t think it is):

As you can see 1152 NBCSNHD is marked as ‘HD’, but most (all?) of the shows on that channel are marked as SD when they definitely are not:

I want to say that I’ve seen similar behavior on other channels - but at the moment I can’t find any examples so the issue might just be on this one channel.

The channel itself has 2 entries in my channel guide (most of the channels do) but neither one has been SD for years, and I have only enabled the higher-numbered channels in my DVR setup in an attempt to prevent this issue but it hasn’t done anything.

I am not sure why the program data thinks the airing is in SD - after it’s recorded the video data confirms that it is HD:

I’ve also looked at (a copy of) the local epg db to see if I can find the discrepancy there but I’m not familiar enough yet with the structure to be able to find anything. But if you have trouble reproducing and it would help let me know and I can send you more that would help.

Now their labeled with yesterdays date… so no recording… Unbelievable… How difficult can it be?

Well we’re back now to 12/31/2019… Manually moving… Yipee!

Thank you. I can see that 1152 is HD channel NBCSNHD but the lineup does not have it as that but as the SD channel NBCSN

They did approach Spectrum to get info on which channels are HD and which are SD but Spectrum have not yet responded. I have passed this screenshot to our provider as evidence of 1152 being an HD channel

Could you see what the tuner shows for 49 and 102 - are they both SD ? The tuner channel details is on the left side on the channel mapping dialogue box

Both are HD.

I can definitely understand how it might be confusing - nearly all national channels are duplicated at least once in the channel lineup, but for years none of those national channels have been SD, all should be HD (and show that in the channel scan if not the EPG data).

It would be very helpful if there was a way for me to override the HD/SD detection - ideally at any of the show/channel/tuner levels, as that would allow me to resolve this myself.

I can see two issues - one already explained in my earlier post here and is a timing issue when EPG programs are added without an Original Air Date being set initially.

I see also there was an error on the episode titled “09-21-2020” where the original air date was set as 18 September. I have referred this to our provider and also asked for Original Air Dates to be set when programs are added rather than days later.

I expect all these issues to go away once we migrate to a different EPG provider as mentioned here

Is it possible for you to provide me with a list of all the tuner channels to have it compared with the lineup to see which channels should be HD channels in the lineup. Preferably a text file so that it can be imported into excel.

We do not have such an option and we go by the lineup channels

Thanks, and I to am hopeful this will go away with a new provider, however with no date set/communicated one wonders when it will actually happen and in the mean time I’m stuck fixing their issues which by the way haven’t been consistently corrected in well over a year. You’ll have to forgive my pessimism but hope is not a plan nor an announcement without details. It would be different if I didn’t have to babysit Plex, but alas that is currently not the case.

Here is a csv created right from my HDHomeRun’s lineup json:

Yeah, I know you don’t currently have that option I was just saying it would be useful for me if there were an option like this :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Please Plex, Bring back GraceNote! This is a total nightmare. I’m sure that we would prefer this over this disaster DVR Live TV guide.

Most of the episodes are totally incorrect. Have a look at Gracenote’s compared to your Guide data. TV Listings- Find Local TV Listings and Watch Full Episodes They are totally different! Gracenote’s guide data is correct. Please have a look at the comparison for one show ‘Inside Edition’ You will see that it is correctly listed as S33E07. Plex’s TV guide is totally wrong as it lists it as S32E244! This goes for most series with Plex’s Guide. None of my recordings are working anymore so I have been forced to use Emby to record the correct episodes. Only wish Emby had detect and remove commercials.

PS: I’ve tried Schedules direct and wasted money on that since it can’t even categorize News. It recognizes all news programs as Movies. Plex won’t allow me to save it in my created News folder. If anyone has any ideas on how to get a proper XML file for the TV guide on Unraid, I would love to know.

Again, start from scratch and rebuild this utter disaster of what Plex calls a DVR. It’s totally useless. This issue has been going on since June 2019!!!

They are.

Wow! I just fell of my chair. This is such great news!!! Thank you Noah.

All of FOX’s Sunday animated block is set to debut this Sunday. And while “The Simpsons” is currently scheduled to be recorded, Family Guy is not.
