Lol, there is an attachment to that post, which is an excel sheet with EPG info, named TIVO. Can’t you see it?
You are right and I am wrong.
Sorry to butt in here however I do hope my input helps…
Do you mean proof of Virgin using Tivo as box suppliers or the Plex EPG being sourced from Tivo?
I remembered a post about the latter - elan confirmed it here:
If the former then please ignore me ![]()
Pff, Not a proof just Yadda Yadda

That’s what I thought but thought I better clarify, as not only had it been long day but I’ve not slept in over 24 hours - sorry.
I’m pretty certain as long as it shows in the DVR Schedule it will attempt to record it.
That could change if the Guide data is updated (as happened for recording Bancroft at the beginning of the year), so I have to check it just prior to recording to make sure.
I’m also recording White House Farm and see the same as you, so will see how it goes.
In this instance I usually have to resort to renaming the episode files to make sure they match the data in TheTVDB and then show the correct metadata in the Library. I am currently doing this for Wonderful World Of Chocolate on Channel 5 (Sundays 9PM), which now shows as Season 2 in Plex even though it should still be Season 1.
I’m not so sure actually. Channel 5’s own website lists this as Season 1 and yet the Sky TV Guide and Plex show as Season 2 and TheTVDB lists as both. Probably leave it alone I say! ![]()
Plex DVR & new EPG has gotten better - but I’m still having issues unfortunately. I’ve been happy to report them, but is just getting annoying now. Anyone got any suggestions of other software or UK EPG data I can use in the meantime?
Drop Plex’s DVR and use something like NextPVR with SchedulesDirect. Then watch your stress levels drop and your free time rise.
I did this months ago, and can confirm that it just works.
I’m at the point that I’d almost forgotten that I’d set it up.
I thought I would check in on progress of the Plex EPG service and it was just as I feared.
To get anything half way accurate with this provider, Plex are having to rely on a constant stream of error reporting from users.
As can be seen by the most recent comments, this is not sustainable.
Yeah, I get the “in one” app principle and it would be my first choice, but I have been unable to find an XMLTV feed that works with Plex.
Having written that, using NextPVR isn’t a problem as I set it to record into the same directories that Plex uses so there is no post recording work to do. As a result I only use NextPVR when I want to start recording something new which isn’t a great effort.
It’s worth trying out.
@chenks - all the January changes for Virgin Media cable lineup listed here
I should have said January 7th changes
I can see a preliminary entry for it on the January v3 pdf
I wonder if Virgin Media publish the regional variations in a document. The pdf just says there may be variations https://www.virginmedia.com/content/dam/virginmedia/dotcom/documents/Redwood/ChannelGuide_January2020.v3.pdf
I will report this error to our provider (together with the STV issue)
I know - would need to establish if there are variations within Scotland
e.g. for OTA we have
STV North
STV Central
ITV Border Scotland
STV+1 North
STV+1 Central
Anyway - this will be a discussion between our provider and Virgin Media
@sa2000 Just some UK OTA (Freeview Meridian(South East) OTA Broadcast) EPG issues I’ve noticed:
005, 105 @ 20:00PM 20th January - Traffic Cops should be S5 E17, rather than S5 E16. They all seem to be one out currently.
005, 105 @ 20:00PM 21st January - Dogs Behaving (Very) Badly should be S2 E3, rather than S2 E2. NEW tag also needs adding.
002, 102 @ 21:00PM 21st January - Horizon should be S2020 E2, rather than S47 E7.
Not sure if the EPG lineup inaccuracies form is being monitored still, but I sent them there too. Thanks
Thanks - I will add these to my backlog.
Please remember there are thousands of UK OTA lineup users but only 1 or 2 Virgin Media cable users. So priority has to be given to the many
OK, so I’m a Freeview OTA user and I understand the comment re “more of us” but it’s not OK that Virgin customers get less support because there are less of them given they spend the same amount as “we” do.
@sa2000 Has the backlog been officially escalated within Plex? Basically, do we need to assume that Plex doesn’t intend to put the necessary extra resources into this?
…I write the above knowing that you personally are working hard on it and that is appreciated!
