New Plex Guide Very Poor in UK

The BIll Drama UK, episodes mixed up again. Current run is S22, guide shows S15, S21 and date only.

The airings are now showing the new season. Next airings for 17th and 24th September show as Season 4 Episodes 3 and 4

Whilst we have been having delays in data availability from our provider, I can see that on Friday 11th September the data that was in place did have the “New” indicator set for the 21:00 airing

An EPG refresh after 2am on the 11th September would have picked the update

Looking at the next airings, I can see that we do have the new indicator set for the 21:00 airing for next Friday (18th September)

Our ingested provider data is currently 2 days behind due to some missing EPG provider files. Once this is addressed, I will check the sequencing for this series

Yes these were picked up and reported to our provider which i posted about here New Plex Guide Very Poor in UK - #1789 by sa2000

Looking at the schedule today - we do not have any long durations

Hi I am having an issue while trying to record a show on CITV called “The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants”.
The EPG seems to have merged the “Show title” and the “episode title” of each episode into one and is then taking each episode as a separate show.

e.g. :
The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants. Captain Underpants and the Shadowy Syndrome of the.
The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants. Captain Underpants and the Problematic Pandemonium The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants. Captain Underpants and the Bombastic Blathering of Brai
The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants. Captain Underpants and the Bizarre Blitzkrieg of the

I can see the issue. This has been referred to our provider

I just reported an EPG change for the UK. Sky Arts has today launched on channel 11 of FreeView. Pick TV has therefore moved to channel 34 and a few other channels have either moved or been turned off.

Hi, I’m having issues with the UK soaps, specifically Emmerdale and Coronation Street.
Tonight for example there were 2 episodes of Emmerdale, 19.00 - 19.30 then 20.00 - 20.30. The EPG reports the same episode name (Todays date) so it only records one. It used to record both under the same Plex episode and you had to go to “Play Version” to watch both, but this now no longer works either. The same happens with Coronation street when its on twice. It also doesn’t mark the episodes as “New” so I have to change the recorded settings so it records them.

@hullscotty1986 I’ve just checked mine as I have Coronation Street on series link too, same issue.

On Monday it recorded Part 2 and on Wednesday it only recorded Part 1 :man_facepalming:

Certainly too late for today’s schedule but I wanted to flag that the sequencing for “Malcolm in the Middle” on 4 Music (Channel 029) seems to be incorrect:

Today’s airings should be S6 E3 and S6 E4 but the second airing appears to be listed as S6 E5 instead:

Malcolm in the Middle - 200918

The listings for Monday’s airings are correctly showing as S6 E5 and S6 E6 despite today also showing episode 5 :

Malcolm in the Middle - 200921

The other oddity I face is that the incorrect episode won’t record either, even though I only have episode 1 and 2 from series 6 (both recorded yesterday), as can be seen from my DVR schedule in Plex for Windows v1.19.0.1399 and Plex Web v4.34.4:

DVR Schedule - 200918

If it was I could simply rename it afterwards but instead it won’t record!

Some unknown airings in today’s listings

I’ve not gone hunting so I’ve only seen Ideal World (Channel 022) and ITV4 (Channel 024) so far:

EDIT: Also affecting ITV3 (Channel 010), Drama (Channel 020) and Hochanda (Channel 085).

EDIT 2: ITV3 has no data for from Monday at 17:55 until Tuesday at 14:15 whilst ITV4 has no data for Sunday and most of Monday up until 20:00. There are also other gaps on Wednesday and Thursday.

Obviously too late to do anything about for today (Saturday) but it seems there is an ingestion problem for these channels (again).

Following on from the confusion over the showing of “Pearl Harbor” (not the movie) last year there is another airing coming up on PBS America (Channel 091) on the 28th September at 20:35 where I think Plex has got a documentary confused with the 2001 movie of the same name:

Unfortunately I can’t confirm it against either the Freeview TV Guide or PBS America’s own due to date restrictions, but the showing doesn’t appear to be long enough to be the movie - as that should be 183 minutes long.

I’ve been thinking about using Live TV and DVR features in Plex but this entire thread has got me very confused, an EPG is not meant to be interfered with so I am at a loss why Plex is having trouble. None of this information is meant to come from the Plex server or any service running on it. An EPG is a centrally located database hosted by the EPG owner (such as FreeSat, FreeView, YouView or GraceNote)
how exactly is Plex handling an EPG?

There shouldn’t be any possibility that information can be wrong unless the information is wrong in the EPG’s central database itself.

They are not using any of those data providers it seems. Plex have outsourced the EPG to someone else (presumably it was a cheaper contract) and it seems from the constant type of errors it could just be a team of people screen scraping from the channels websites and building up their own database manually.

There has been an announcement that they are no longer using this data supplierafter a year or more of constant complaints, as presumably their contract is now up so they are moving but not after most people have lost complete faith in the system. It remains to be seen if the next supplier of data is going to be better or worse.

Are you just being sarcastic or do you have information to share?

From the announcement, I have assumed that it may well be just a roll back.
that we have secured a deal with a video metadata (EPG) provider that we know well, and trust to deliver an experience that meets our expectations

I certainly wasn’t being sarcastic or didn’t intend to be so apologies if that is how it came across, I simply meant at this time they weren’t using the over-the-air guide data as provided by Freeview etc as the question asked, and merely seem to be using some supplier who builds up their own database by collecting the data manually.

Plex have not said to my knowledge they are going back to their previous provider, if they were why did they not just say so? Assumptions are often wrong, but lets hope not.

Clearly your stabbing in the dark, to me it more plausible it’s Gracenote.

Thanks for your clarification of it not being as you portrayed a possible sub continent hack shop with a less than possible improvement as replied toProjectVRD. Am I correct you have moved on from your statement?

I’m not ‘stabbing in the dark’ as I haven’t said it is or isn’t a particular provider, you are the one making the predictions and assumptions, not me.

If Plex want us to know who the data provider is they will tell us, otherwise they will not. Frankly there are more important things to worry about in the world at the minute.

I see your reply says exactly that, so your excuse is it seems. Ok, that a real thumper. It’s clear your previous posts were just hot air. I don’t know and as i said it was an assumption from an announcement.
