I am having the same problem, during scan Plex finds more than 1200 channels - but when the scan finishes, it shows only 19 channels. Using Astra 19.2E in Germany.

I found this error in the logs which appears when the actual scan finishes:

Dec 08 16:23:59 Plex Media Server[635]: Entity: line 2: parser error : Input is not proper UTF-8, indicate encoding !
Dec 08 16:23:59 Plex Media Server[635]: Bytes: 0xC7 0x41 0x20 0x54
Dec 08 16:23:59 Plex Media Server[635]: signalQuality="0"/><Channel channelIdentifier="triplet://1:1052:29856" name="BAR
Dec 08 16:23:59 Plex Media Server[635]: ^
Dec 08 16:23:59 Plex Media Server[635]: error : xmlTextWriterWriteDocCallback : XML error 9 !
Dec 08 16:23:59 Plex Media Server[635]: I/O error : write error
Dec 08 16:23:59 Plex Media Server[635]: error : xmlTextWriterCloseDocCallback : XML error 9 !

I sincerely hope that this bug can finally be resolved after such a long time.

Hi Plex team, I am wondering if this issue gets fixed or if it stays broken?

I guess it is a matter of getting their attention. Most of the time it is an impossible mission.

Having the same issue. 144 Channels found, 84 enabled and the guide is only showing 62

Hi,
I have the same Problem. Channel Scan reports 1155 Channels found, but during mapping only 19 are displayed.

I’m using Server Version 1.25.6.5577 and an Telestar Digibit Twin.

If I can be of any help diagnosing this issue, please let me know.

Regards
Jens

This problem has been around for a while. Plex doesn’t parse channel names properly when there are special characters in them. Instead of dropping the characters, it simply stops the entire scan from that point forward.

Can anybody confirm, PMS on Windows 10 works fine for me.
Only Linux-based PMS has the problem?

Windows gets 436 Channels, Synology DSM6 only 9 Channels.
(Tested on PMS 1.25.6-1.25.8)

I scanned on Windows PMS and copied the DB table to Syno PMS.
…works fine!

The Counter in the database is at 436 but there are only 9 entries. (Synology/linux)

Same for me, see other post Channel scan do not found all TV-stations on Ubuntu-Server. I tried it with a Win10, Ubuntu and Synology setup with the result that the error appear only on Ubuntu and Synology, not on Win10.

I have the same problem. Could you please explain how to copy the scan results from one machine to another? Thanks!

An official fix is coming.
Maybe 1.26.1.5742+ will fix it, maybe next week.

Downgraded as well. I will seee if it work. im glad i only bought one licence and not more. its realy wierd how some of the Mods here react to the fix request of this issue wich is spread all over this forum in differend threads.

@jochen_6 Which PMS Version do you use!?

hi today i updated to the latest still no luck. i found over 240 but only 9 are asigned. but if i click on the drop down menue i could assign them to a other channel wich does not realy work. i hope they fix it soon i realy like plex. and this feature is so awesome.

I have not seen this problem in Windows (10) PMS, only Linux based…(Synology, docker, etc.)

Fixed it for me:

Yes the fix for a cause of this problem has been released in Plex Media Server beta release 1.26.1.5762

  • (DVR) Plex Tuner Service does not return non-unicode encoded channels (#13374)
  • (DVR) Plex Tuner Service only returns a small number of channels (#13261)
