Just to clarify, i can see all the files, just not play any of them, and they are linked to the correct location.
Thanks, yeah that made no difference. And covert to ACL is greyed out for me. If it helps, I get this when I log in to plex:
Yeah that is my IP, and the password should the same as before. Someone else has recommended this below. Would
this be a good idea in your professional opinion?
Logout Plex on the top right, stop de service.
In /var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server rename Preferences.xml to something else and then start the service
Open 32400/web
Thanks again, Still cannot believe the support from this forum. I’ve done the above ands still no jo I’m afraid. Can see all the files, but wont play them.
Thanks for the help, I worked it out in the end, I had to change where plex was looking for the files as I had changed the folder name from “PLEX” to “Plex” Just needed to change that in plex and it was all up and running again. SO it could obviously see the library from the xml file?? But not the actual files.
I cannot express how incredible the support has been on this, thank you to everyone.
Hi Chuck, Hoping you can answer my earlier question?
Updated DS1091+ to DSM 7 and seemed OK. Gave error message on permissions which fix and seemed to do “repair” which all seems to work. The app says beat but I think there is a note about not using beta and get download from Media Server Downloads | Plex Media Server for Windows, Mac, Linux, FreeBSD and More Listed there I’m not sure what’s the right one for DS1019+ Intel (32 or 64)?? Also if I uninstall the one I have and reinstall I assume it doesn’t delete lib files? I assume just use claim process note above
In package center it shows as beta but functionally everything works as far as I can tell. Mainly thinking I have to uninstall and re-install right when updates to Plex come out
Hello gporter416,
if you take a look at the link i posted there you can see in Line 293 you NAS Model and it is an x64 CPU.
Hello,
Could I take a peek at your modified version? I ran into the same issue list night during the migration process.
Hello,
after unsuccessful migration of PMS during DMS 7 update on my Synology DS118 and getting all things wrong (didn’t uninstall PMS before DMS update, repaired an installation with Package Center’s Beta version which is apparently not longer valid, removed server from Plex Authorized Device’s… etc.) I wasn’t able to see server anymore in my Plex account. I’ve decided to go from scratch… I’ve uninstalled the PMS package from Package Center (with ERASE option), deleted plex user and deleted Plex shared folder… I did restarted NAS and started a clean install of PMS DM7 release. After granting permissions to plexmediaserver internal user for shared media folder and opening the app from NAS I’ve got message “Not authorized… You do not have access to this server”. What have I done wrong… is it possible to get some instructions for clean install of PMS after removing previous install or something similar… thanks in advance.
@Nessaja71 & @trumpy81 @ChuckPa
Thanks. I think it found it for me anyways when looking at
In Package center it shows
Ultimately I guess I’m wondering if I can just go to package center>plex>Manual install, choose that PlexMediaServer-1.23.6.4881-e2e58f321-x86_64_DSM7.spk and run or if I have to uninstall>leave folder/files and claim token method. On that part if needed do I have to get the “token” first from somewhere is is there when I go to install using claim token.
Sorry, just trying to not create churn unnecessarily by going left when I should have gone right
See the blue hyperlink “Get Plex Claim Token” on the installer page ?
Click it
Your browser will open and Plex.tv will give you a claim token
Click Copy
Come back to the installer and paste it into the ‘Claim Token’ window.
Hello
I probably should have looked for the tuto before doing it thinking it would be easy …
I did my DSM6 upgrade to DSM7.
I got an error message that the package needed to be repaired, so without thinking too much I clicked on repair.
Of course it didn’t fix anything.
From there I looked for a tutorial. I did change the permissions for the Plex directory and the directory that contains the media.
My knowledge is quite limited, I admit.
My problem now is that when I try to install manually the plex package, the process remains blocked for > 25 minutes (I mean that updating animation never ends). Usually, this operation takes 30 seconds at the most.
Can this is explain by my media library size ? (if huge)
Yes, you need to read the instructions.
Installation will take time. approximate 2 minutes for each 1000 items you have indexed by PMS
Before you have any further problems, open a new window to DSM and increase the idle timeout delay to 65535 minutes. You can restore the default value later.
Doing this will allow the display to stay signed in.
It just ended at the second one !
I had interrupted the previous installation after 10 minutes by rebooting the NAS. And I really thought that it was a big mistake and that I was not going to make it.
I am relieved.
Thanks for your quick feedback anyway
TO ALL FOLLOWING HERE:
@Runberg and others who have requested:
I offer the Forum Preview of the new packaging in this thread.
Be Advised
- It takes us away from the normal Plex.tv/downloads updates .
- Once you do this, you are in the new structure – NOT compatible with old software
- I will make new packages as needed
- This forum preview version will be production release very soon.
PLEASE read the thread before installing. There are changes and you MUST be more careful in spite of how DSM 6-like it appears.
For everyone who participated in the original beta, this should be very familiar
Thanks, more to the first part do I even need to uninstall and go through that or just go with what I posted before it?
If you already have the native DSM 7 package installed, perform a normal update to the new Preview Package.
If it complains then “Uninstall + Keep” followed by quick install of the preview package. Installation time will be nearly instantaneous.
Now that DSM 7 is stable, I was able to complete so much of what I originally wanted in the DSM 7 package.
Hi Chuck,
Package center shows.
Plex runs seemingly fine but in plex settings said update to this version. (PlexMediaServer-1.23.6.4881-e2e58f321-x86_64_DSM7.spk)
Just don’t want to mess it up… (They all say!)
Folder structure looks like
Now I understand why you are having so many problems.
- You have the package center BETA package. — YUCK —
- Packaging itself is full “production” status now
- Take my Forum Preview package
- Perform a NORMAL update (Manual Install)
- It will do the rest
3744 was what we used as DSM 7 was being developed – 7.0-41222
Hi, is it possible some help here regarding clean install after messing up with PMS migration… Thanks.
