Server Version#: 1.18.1.1973
Player Version#: PMS is up-to-date
PMS icon in system tray keeps disappearing, please advise how I can ensure this service stays on. Ever since updating it to 1.18.1.1973 last night, it has been completely unstable.

I am having the same issue, still searching through forums for more information.
Same here. Hardware transcoding is completely broken and with it disabled, is really unstable.

I am having the same issue

Yep, having the same issue here. I just updated yesterday in the evening and I can’t keep it running on my PC. Any attempt to playback any file causes it to crash. Is there an easy way to roll back the update?
We reset our Desktop and reinstalled PMS, it is stable now. However, it is not consistently matching shows and movies even after refreshing the library’s metadata and trying to match movies manually by going to the file > (3 vertical dots) > Match / Fix Match.
Same issue here.
I can playback previously downloaded media but anything new added (including live tv) crashes instantly.
Edit: so I uninstalled then reinstalled the program from the server as stated above and that seems to have fixed the issue. So far I haven’t experienced the matching issues that they have had.
I am having the same issue. I disabled hardware acceleration and it seemed to start working again. hopefully they release an update to fix soon!

Same here. Looking for a downgrade option, but Plex makes it very difficult.
Found it. Another user (not Plex support) helped me fix my problem.
I have the same issue. I Disabled hardware acceleration and PMS has stopped crashing for now. If I still have issues I’ll try to roll back to a more stable version.
Interesting I usually have mine disabled I’ll have to check if it was enabled. Mine has been crashing every 5 mins.
Edit: Actually my hardware encoding is generally enabled, but disabling Hardware Transcoding stopped the crashing.
Nvidia GTX 1660 no changes in Nvidia Drivers but did update just incase but no improvement. Plex is still crashing even when drivers are updated and hardware encoding enabled.
having the same issue here as everyone else.
Update: 1.18.1.1973
Version: 4.10.1
Same here.
With Hardware acceleration disabled, it’s ok.
Waiting for plex update
Had the same issue. i rolled back to version 1.18.1.1966 and its working fine now.
The issue eventually came back for me. Reinstalling temp fixes it but then it comes back after a day or 2.
I will disable hardware acc. If it still comes back I will roll back.
Plex needs to get on this ASAP. It renders the entire program useless.
Same problem here. Old media works ok. new media crashes.
Also getting the same problem, i5 8600k - QSV capable - with hardware transcoding enabled. Crashes on playing anything, old or new. Rolling back 2-4-6 updates made zero difference. Don’t know when this started occurring as I typically direct play but some remote devices started crashing it over and over. However I was on the latest 1973 update when I started noticing it happening.
Disabling the hardware transcoding prevented Plex from cashing instantly on playback and has been my only solution so far, but it is not much of a solution…
