Recently I found some problems while using plex suite on GroupHi, first of all, I recently moved, before I moved, I had no problem using plex in my old house, but after I recently moved to my new house, I switched the address of GroupHi’s LAN in my home, and then never used plex again until yesterday, when the new TV I bought for my home arrived, I tried to use the plex, but I couldn’t get PlexMediaServer to open in any way (it opens directly in GroupHi’s suite at: GroupHi’s IP:32400).
To deal with the problem, I performed the following actions
Deactivate plex in GroupHi and uninstall plex;
Delete the shared folder of PlexMediaServer;
Delete the plex user from the system;
Delete the PlexMediaServe user group;
Download the corresponding 64-bit suite installation package of Qunhui from the official website and reinstall PlexMediaServer manually.
At this time, the problem came out, I still can’t open it after the installation is finished, I checked the settings in the control panel of GroupHi and found the following:
there is a folder of PlexMediaServer in the shared folder after installation;
there is no plex user in Users;
There is no new user group for PlexMediaServer in the user groups;
There is no port information in the service information of PlexMediaServer.
How can I deal with this problem so that I can enjoy the service of PlexMediaServer on GroupHui?
The PlexMediaServer package is only officially available through Synology Package Center, their download server and Plex.tv/downloads. What is “Qunhi”? It does not sound official.
It sounds like you were previously using Plex on DSM 6.
When Synology designed DSM 7, they changed everything about how applications work.
While the detailed information is here:
I suggest you read it thoroughly so as to understand what was changed and why.
While it’s too late to save what you previously had, It is directly possible to upgrade Plex for DSM 6 → Plex for DSM 7.
In Summary:
Shared Folder: Plex → PlexMediaServer
User: Plex → System Internal User: PlexMediaServer
Privileges: All DSM 6 privileges have been stripped. DSM 7 Plex has no ‘root’ or ‘admin’ privileges of any kind.
There now exists several How-To’s to use DSM 7 PlexMediaServer in order to help folks adapt to the changes Synology forced with DSM 7.
If you examine the FAQ, they have been updated to support DSM 7.
New FAQ info has been added for DSM 7-specific issues.
Thanks for the reply, to correct my question
The system version number of synology is: DSM 7.2-64570 Update 1
The Plex Media Server downloaded from Plex website is: PlexMediaServer-1.32.6.7371-b6a09ad81-x86_64_DSM7.spk
I uninstalled and reinstalled it in the same way as
In DSM 7, all applications now have “System Internal User”
SystemInternalUser accounts are completely under DSM control.
The “PlexMediaServer” shared folder is the new name for what used to be the “Plex” shared folder. If you examine it, you will find the structure has changed but is mostly the same.
Be advised, DSM 7 is extremely fragile. If you alter permissions or files in PlexMediaServer, you will break PMS.
If you want to grant permission for PlexMediaServer to access your media, here is how it must be done now.
You will find the original port number (32400) along with the URL in Package Center.
Hello, I would like to recapitulate my operation for you
The device is synology1520+ The system version is DSM 7.2-64570 Update 1
The PlexMediaServer downloaded from the official website is: PlexMediaServer-1.32.6.7371-b6a09ad81-x86_64_DSM7.spk
The first step is to uninstall:
In the suite center of synology, deactivate the current PlexMediaServer;
To uninstall PlexMediaServer, select “Erase all Plex Media Servers from this system (non-recoverable)” and then select “Yes” in Uninstall;
Under synology’s control panel, find User Groups and delete the PlexMediaServer group;
Delete the PlexMediaServer shared folder.
and reboot
Installation:
In the suite center of synology, select Manual Installation and install the synology 7.0 installation package downloaded from the Plex website;
Use the “New or Lost Server” (Plex Declare Token method) to obtain a token from the Plex website and complete the installation;
In the PlexMediaServer details in synology’s suite center, you can see RUL
Ok, the above is how I’m doing it now, and I don’t feel like there’s anything wrong with the operation.
The problem I’ve encountered so far is that the URL in the PlexMediaServer details in synology’s Kit Center is unable to open the corresponding web page, it won’t open, how to deal with this?
Yes, my computer and my nas are under the same network, and after I finished reinstalling PlexMediaServer yesterday, I installed PlexMediaServer on my mac as well, and it shows that my nas and my mac are not on the same LAN, but I am indeed on the same LAN.
I also want to show you something else.
synology–>Control Panel–>Information Center–>Services, the following screenshot shows that the local port number for PlexMediaServer is empty .
Isn’t it very hard to understand why this is so, and I’m speechless.
I asked Synology’s tech support and they couldn’t do anything about it, and by the way, they gave me the option to remake the system settings, which I think is a last resort, and I’ll have to reset the system if there’s nothing else I can do.
After contacting GroupHi, I followed the instructions on that page to recover my synology system, and when it was done, the system’s version number was DSM 7.2-64570 Update 3
!!Please note that it is a user from mainland China, the web content is in Chinese, and I am using mode 2 for recovery.!!
After the recovery was complete, I reinstalled PlexMediaServer, but the situation is the same as before, the user group still doesn’t have anything related to Plex, and the local port number is empty.
PlexMediaServer can be accessed directly, I don’t know what’s going on!
I always feel a little uneasy about this situation right now.
In summary, thank you for your support, but I think I’d like you to provide email support, after all, I think it’s easier that way, thank you for your reply! Much appreciated!

I’m sorry, but you’re not understanding here.
There is no “Plex” user anymore
DSM 7 changed everything
– User “plex” → System Internal User (which is not listed) “PlexMediaServer”
– Shared folder “Plex” (which I created during installation) is now “PlexMediaServer” and is created by DSM.
– We. as applications, have no control to create the configuration in DSM. The files I showed you above are everything we have.
Sorry, the “GroupHi” I mentioned is “Group”, I see, normally you can’t see PlexMediaServer as a Group in Groups, you can only see it in the Settings Shared I can only see it in the Settings Shared folder.
I installed PlexMediaServer for the first time in June this year, and when I installed PlexMediaServer, I could see PlexMediaServer in Groups, but when I installed PlexMediaServer this time, I could not see PlexMediaServer in Groups. When I installed it this time, I couldn’t see PlexMediaServer in the Groups.
And PlexMediaServer can be accessed in my LAN, but the main problem is that I can’t see the local port of PlexMediaServer in the service under “info center” in DSM control panel, the port number is empty, just like me. The port number is empty, as you can see in the picture I replied to you earlier.
Yes, I already understand this dsm 7.0 feature, in fact, when I originally installed it, it was also a 7.0 system and I could see the corresponding Group’s.
The only problem now is:

I think I am now understanding.. I apologize for it taking me so long.
The ports you are showing are the predefined Firewall ports.
Plex does not pre-define any firewall ports in DSM 7. We define the Application Ports using the same PlexMediaServer.sc firewall file. We do not have privilege to install the firewall ports (we are not ‘root’ user in DSM 7). I can show you here how to create the firewall port entries:
I have a new question here and I’m not sure if I can reply to it in this thread.
I am deploying a plex in nas and after I stream it to my TV, I can now watch the movie in the plex on my TV, but I want to use my local subtitles, how do I do that, do I need to have the same name as the video file and put it in the same folder?
