Today, my cloud station client in my Synology NAS says, status abnormal. Account does not have write privileges. When I go in and check to see what doesn’t, it shows the plex account does not have write privileges. It says download only. Is that necessary? What do most people have with that account if they have a Synology NAS. I’m just learning as I am brand new to Plex Thanks.
Plex needs write privileges for all kinds of stuff…
last not least when it downloads posters or metadata for your media and updates its database. All those are files that Plex somehow needs to write to your disk.
Usually this stuff is linked to the Plex data folder and should not be touched by anything except Plex. However there’s also use cases where Plex needs write permissions for your media folders (e.g. if you want to delete content through Plex or if you want Plex to create optimized versions of your media…).
I think I got it. I gave permissions in the client, paused, and restarted. No abnormal at this point.
