TV Show Data Not Pulling

Server Version#: 1.15.1.710
Player Version#: 3.83.1

Recently TV shows no longer pull metadata on my Plex. I have tried several solutions I have found via google including fixing filename conventions, opening my firewall, performing the “Plex Dance” with the files for a show that is not matched, and even uninstalling and reinstalling the entire server.

At this point I am in need of some help as even lookign through the log files doesn’t seem to turn up anything I can see as significant.

You can download my logs here: https://we.tl/t-3Zx7060bTO

Can you give an example of a show that isn’t pulling in the data? Is this a new show you are adding or just new episodes?

Any new tv shows I add, old ones that existed before still work.

I need a specific example so I can check your logs.

Sorry, yes Brooklyn Nine-Nine is the example I am working with now as I have all the files named properly for that but the issue is also happening with Boston Legal.

Ok, I’m seeing an issue. Might be on our end. Let me confirm and get back to you.

Nevermind. The error I was seeing is not the issue. Looks like you tried adding the show before and possibly it was unable to gather the info at that time, so it is just reusing the same bad data. Try manually clearing the agent cache and then rematch the show again.

Tried that, still the same problem

Here is a screenshot of the cache folder after clearing and rebooting plex.

Here are my latest log files: https://we.tl/t-Uqg1hwO3UR

Ok, try Plex dancing the files. Plex incorrectly identifying TV episodes

I dont want to sound rude but in my original post I said I have tried the plex dance with these files and it has not helped. Tried it a few times, even in combination with clearing the agent cache and that has not helped.

I have been having this problem for the last few weeks and after a lot of searching and trying all the solutions google had to offer I have ended up here as a last resort.

I saw that, but I don’t know what exactly you did or in what sequence. I’m just going by your logs. This time, I see in your log that PMS thinks your files are already matched and using correct data, so it’s not updating any of the information already being used. What did you do after clearing the cache previously? You needed to “Refresh” the Show. Sorry I forgot to mention that part.

OK I did the full plex dance with the Brooklyn files and deleted the agent cache/restarted the server before rescanning the library files. Still no data, log files attached.Plex Media Server Logs_2019-03-12_15-30-04.zip (2.2 MB)

I’m confused what you did. Part of Plex Dance is to rescan your files. If you are doing a scan after, then I don’t think you are doing the dance right.

However, your logs appear like everything is working.

First couple of episode data

Everything looks like it should be working. The only other thing I can think is that there is something corrupted in your database, preventing the new data from being written. This won’t show in the logs.

https://support.plex.tv/articles/201100678-repair-a-corrupt-database/

Exact steps I took:

  1. move the folder for Brooklyn Nine-Nine sompletey out of my media folder and to the root of my C drive
  2. Click the three dots next to TV Shows library and hit Scan Library Files in the web app
  3. Click the three dots by the Libraries tab and select Empty Trash and hit the empty button
  4. Go to settings and troubleshooting and click “Clean Bundles”
  5. Shut down plex server
  6. Go to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex Media Server\Plug-in Support\Caches and delete all folders
  7. Move Brooklyn Nine Nine files from my C drive back into the TV folder in view of Plex
  8. Restart plex server
  9. Click the three dots next to TV Shows library and hit Scan Library Files in the web app

Ok, those steps are fine.

Just thought of something else. Also database related. Find your database folder, it should be along side the Cache folder. You should see the …library.db file. That’s the database. There should also be a .db-shm and .db-wal files of the same name. There are other files there too, but ignore those. Now shut down PMS. Do those .db-shm and .db-wal files go away? These temporarily hold data before they get written to the main database. If these don’t go away, that could be a sign that there may be something blocking them from update your main database, which would prevent the new metadata from appearing. These should go away when shutting down PMS. If not, go ahead and manually delete these. There’s no harm in doing that except maybe losing some recent info to your PMS, like watched status. Restart PMS and refresh the show.

If those files did go away, then try repairing the database since you already have PMS off and are looking at the database anyways.

Those files don’t disappear but removing them doesn’t help. Tried looping through shutting down and removing the files a few times but still no meta data will pull.

Followed DB repair instructions here:

https://support.plex.tv/articles/201100678-repair-a-corrupt-database/

Still no meta data.

Any other ideas?

Can you try creating a new library with just that show and see if it works? If not, can you try the same but with another show that currently has the right data. I’d like to see if it’s something with that show or something with gathering data in general. Everything in your logs say that it should be working.

It didnt work.

The new library pulls the show that works proper info, but not B99 it is still wrong.
