UK Freeview EPG

So this is pretty sucky. People discussing other ‘better’ programmes to use instead of a product that they have paid for, with no intervention from any employee.

I’m now seeing this issue, seemingly only on the stuff I want to watch.

The only way I can view channels is if I go on to the last program which had a listing, where you can ‘view channel’.

I hope this gets resolved soon!

Mike

After multiple refreshes of guide I continue to have Unkown Airing issues, and scheduled recordings not working. Again not good enough for unreliability to be continuing for so long. Not sure what recourse is as a lifetime member? Although it is my time and hassle from family for an unreliable system that is the bigger 'cost!

Thank goodness that it isn’t only me having these issues!

Has anyone tried using http://www.xmltv.co.uk/feeds? as the EPG source?

Hi

I think the issue with those types of feeds is that they don’t have the extra data to support things like series link. The XML TV format does allow tags to include a series identifier, but I don’t see those used in the xmltv.co.uk feeds.

It would be possible to export the necessary series links from the overair EPG on Freeview and include them in the XML file. Whether Plex will pick up and use those Ids is another matter, not sure if anyone knows?

The fix for the gaps that shows as Unknown Airing has now been deployed to the live service and I just checked the UK channels and we have zero gaps. The same issue led also to xxx Programming

A full EPG manual refresh would correct all the gaps and xxx programming erroneous entries

good news.

Any update on the missing episode/show information (assuming it is a generic issue)?

J.

For shows that appear as being aired as a series rather than episode on channels, this would lead to missing episode info. Each case where the episode info is important, would need to be flagged and then can be referred to our provider.

Hello

The EPG is still broken with some channels only recording the first part of a film where there is break in the middle of the film
This was reported when the EPG got borked with the change of providers circa 6/7 weeks ago
I know I can extend the recording time but this is a poor workaround

Please provide an update as to when a proper fix will be in place for this issue

Still with our provider. This is not an easy issue to tackle - because the channel does provide separate airings for the 3 components. It happens that our previous provider merged them together.

Try 13 weeks ago (and 1 day)
¼ of a year has passed…

Then why can’t the new provider merge the 3 components
I understand from a friend who has a Virgin box supplied with the new providers software and he does not have this issue
So they already have a fix ! - It works on their own kit fine

Just been checking the Virgin Media online EPG

It looks pretty good, seems to match up with what we had with Gracenote, most things i checked have complete Season/Episode

Not sure why the Tivo data that Plex gets can be so badly wrong

Please can we have an update in the EPG issues addressed in this feed? I have been a happy plex pass subscriber for the past few years, but the current state of the DVR features are worrying. The only reason i pay for the plex pass is this feature and in it’s current state it is practically useless.

which specific issues ?

Issues get addressed when they are reported. I do have a backlog again of a number of bookmarked posts to go back to - but which issue is impacting you?

Specific Issues i have been seeing over the last few months.

  1. Movies that are interrupted by entertainment news or something else halfway through do not record fully (Picture 1 attached) usually ITV 2, ITV4 & 5STAR. I know there is a workaround but we shouldn’t need to do this if it was a working feature in the past.
  2. Guide is registering regular tv programs and documentaries as movies (Picture 2 attached).
  3. Guide either not pulling the correct metadata or none at all (Picture 3 attached).
  4. Scheduled recordings register movies as 60mins or less instead of full length (Picture 4 attached).
  5. Some scheduled recordings come and go and recording doesn’t take place with no notification for why.

I know that some of these issues may have been addressed in the past but they are seriously affecting how I use plex on a daily basis. The frustrating fact is that all of these issues worked perfectly until plex changed the working EPG provider.

Looks like we all need to be aware of this (note the UK specific info)::

Hi
It would be nice if this were fixed - Any update on this - its been many many months and requests for a fix - Are these new providers completely incompetent - Remember it used to work with the previous provider so it has worked - Can the new provider call the old provider and ask how they did it - Can Plex call the old provider and ask - They must know the people - Maybe bung them a few quid for a fix

This is being progressed with our provider and we have regular reviews.

The latest I have is that a solution is being put together and will be implemented.

Well the fix cant come soon enough - As mentioned previously I mainly use plex to record films for later playback with the family - This fix will make recording much easier

Next please remove all the many incorrectly marked stuff that shows up as a film and whilst there are still loads of other issues the main ones for me will be sorted !

If thats done it will be like a time machine going back a few months when Plex EPG used to work !!! :frowning:

Timescale?
