Metadata not working / incomplete

Yesterday it worked fine, today its a mess again. Matching but not pulling metadata from TMDB nor Plex movie.

Maybe if we pretend we use a Linux server instead of Windows someone will help us…

I’ve been having issues with my movie metadata for a few weeks now as well.

I’m trying to get metadata for new files and it’s been broken since 2 days ago.

Plex Media Server Logs_2020-05-28_11-35-58.zip (4.6 MB) Metadata /system/agents/media/get request failed with code: 500: http://127.0.0.1:33179/system/agents/media/get?guid=com%2Eplexapp%2Eagents%2Ethetvdb%3A%2F%2F72521%3Flang%3Den&mediaType=2&url=metadata%3A%2F%2Fposters%2Fcom%2Eplexapp%2Eagents%2Ethetvdb_0eefee323c1946c79a42f92f22aef8309f57d7ae

Logs are attached. @Plex please help.

Server Version: 1.19.4.2865

Same issues with metadata. I am running my server on the nvidea shield. Server version 1.19.3.2839. It seems with the last two updates no new metadata is being loaded.

I re-ripped a bunch of TV shows, removed the old copies, and added in the new in my plex library. For days now, I’ve hit “refresh metadata” and still all I get is the match and release year. No other data ever shows up on the show or episodes. Everything is “Episode 1” etc.

I’ve tried everything. Emptied trash, cleaned DB and bundles, even deleted the Cache folder in the Plug-in Support folder. Nothing works.

Using Plex is great. Managing the database is a recurring nightmare. It breaks all the time.

Had the exact same issue - tried everything as well, and made sure the server was always up to date.

It seems to have resolved itself without any intervention. Everything updates perfectly again - no issues pulling metadata at all.

Hang in there!

No go for me still.

Metadata or access to TheMovieDB and TheTVDb still borked.

The show I’m having issues with is Crusade (the Babylon 5 spinoff). The log says it’s missing xml for the episodes. I even installed another app to see if it could scrape it, and it worked just fine, so whatever the issue is, it’s Plex-side.

Plex really need a better interface for managing the library. It is incredibly frustrating to work with, and I reconsider why I use Plex every time.

I am having the same issue. It appears ONLY with movies. Not just newer or older but with ALL movies. I tried the dance and everything. When matching it “appears” to find it but no cover, actors, no data, but for some odd reason music tracks are found for the movie without fail. This started about 2 weeks ago when I added the entire Star Wars collection.

I’m having this issue as well. “Unmatch” > “Fix Match” finds the movie but doesn’t download any of the metadata, grab the cover art, anything like that. I’ve attached logs, in case anyone can find something. Thanks!

Plex.rar (311.2 KB)

When I’m trying to change the cover for any of my movies, the cached alternatives are still there, but not showing up when I choose one of them. This happens for a few days now.
Also, actors images in the movies detail screens are not showing anymore in large amounts (like 60% to 70% of the main actors that would usually always show up).

Same issues. TV shows work fine. Tried Plex Dance and everything else. Tried removing the whole movie library, clearing metadata and then re-creating library and just made things worse by losing metadata for all the older movies. Tried uninstalling PMS and installing fresh without restoring data, same issues. About 1-5% of my movies were able to get metadata, the rest do not, no matter what I do. Next step is to wipe the entire server and reinstall OS and everything, but I doubt it will work.

Why is this still not fixed? if it’s a tvdb issue maybe add a second source, if it’s a plex issue, maybe fix it? this is getting painfull, brand new fresh install and STILL can’t fill in the artwork etc on TV

Just added a further 26 movies to Plex. Not one of them has been found using theMovieDB.

How come the New one that is being developed is working if its a fault with theMovieDB’s API?

Had the same issues, then suddenly went back to normal and pulled all the metadata in no time with no issues.

And today, back to the same issue- no metadata, no cover photos, nothing

I bit the bullet and decided to do the Plex Dance for my 13+ TB collection of tv series; after removing, cleaning bundles, emptying trash, and re-adding all the files back into plex, I’m happy to report that it has done absolutely nothing to fix the problem.

In fact it’s now worse; instead of 8 shows out of 390+ not having any metadata, none of it does!

Seeing the same problem and been doing tests, even created new library: Metadata from TMDB themoviedb retrieved but actor / cast images missing for movies (working for TV Shows)
My assumption is, this is broken on a backend level and has nothing to do with your library or local setup. Not sure if development will address this or if they are aware and wait it out until the new metadata agent is released in stable.

If the issue was widespread - this forum would be in flames, with people running out of the building with their hair on fire.

I haven’t any any issues with matching Shows or Movies - added 20 Movies yesterday and 20 episodes of TV for at least 5 new shows - all matched instantly and populated fully. <—I did come up short for a few Actor Images <—Refresh Metadata (after that big download stopped) got most of those and when I checked those missing Actors didn’t have images to get - can’t really blame Plex for that.

I have my VPN on most of the time (these days), but Split Tunneling with my provider kicks Plex around the VPN - so no headaches there.

Not denying there is a problem somewhere - just hard to place blame right now. Frustrating, certainly.

What we can do is call in some Employee Action:

@BigWheel

Those are the biggest Plex guns I know - and for those that have provided logs - like @Moadh - I hope they’re Debug Logs - NOT Verbose - and if they are Verbose - change that - then Plex Dance a troublesome show (the whole thing) or a movie (easier than a show) with Debug Logs enabled, wait a few minutes - attach new logs.

Every Step
In Order
or it simply won’t work.

Help ‘should’ arrive soon(ish).
They rarely ignore a rescue flare…
(but do occasionally miss them - when looking somewhere else - or overwhelmed on another rescue… humans… go figure)

The logs should contain the action/inaction of getting the material.
The log provider should note the name of the item Danced and the time it failed.

It’s been a while - let’s have some new logs - Debug - After a Plex Dance - with one Misbehaving and Identified Movie. Let’s make it as easy for the ‘Log Readers’ as we can.

Uploading new set of logs (these also aren’t Verbose)
Plex Media Server Logs_2020-06-20_17-18-41.zip (6.0 MB)

This is the 2nd time this happens to me since the beginning of the thread; had a gap in between where it all went back to normal and everything was getting tagged correctly; until yesterday when it seems to have randomly started again.

Yea, well that indicates bugginess… somewhere…

Do I hear distant sirens?
No, that was my cat… feeding time, apparently… lol

Did you Dance?
What did you Dance?
When did you Dance?
The Logs Need To Contain The Dancing, the matching, or not, and the name of the Movie that failed. Dance one failing movie. See that it failed. Wait 5 minutes. Get some logs.

You want this fixed?
Or not…
