Need help fixing permissions on all my folders for synology

in plex i have delete media enabled, but I cant delete anything from the plex app on iphone or Apple TV.

I made sure that all my media folders have read and write set… what else am I missing?
do I need to give the plex user full access?

If you want Plex to delete files, it needs to have permission to do so – that’ll require write access to your share.

I did give full write access, and I still cant delete anything.

Which DSM Version?
Did you give the right just for the folder or also subfolders and files?

The Syno FAQ has these answers:

For this issue:

  1. DSM 7 – The Plex username is PlexMediaServer. Username Plex has been abandoned.
  2. Here is the How-To. You can tailor the procedure to fix anything you want on a Synology.

I have DSM 7

7.0.1 or 7.1?

dsm 7.1

@patrickwhalen

I don’t have DSM 7.1 BETA here.

If you’re able to get Plex working, which Synology has confirmed it does for them,
then setting permissions should be just as you normally do for any shared folder with you Apply to this folder, sub-folders, and files as you apply them.

EDIT: I am going to give DSM 7.1 a trial on my DS417j development system

Permission setting has not changed in DSM 7.1

my folder permissions are all messed up, for all my library folders, they all are part of different groups. how can I fix it without messing up plex?

@patrickwhalen

Here is the How-To. It was written to cover initial migration but also applies here to repair permissions.

The will repair any and all permissions (depends on what you set).
It applies the permissions you specify to all folders, sub-folders, and files of the shared folder.

As you do this, you only need make certain PlexMediaServer is listed with Read/Write or ReadOnly permission
