Took TWO MONTHS to sort out the issues I kept on reporting about the STV schedule being totally wrong every night after the news because their provider was just copying and pasting from the ITV network schedule. They just changed the name of the regional news without checking that, as a separate franchise, STV is slightly more than your average regional optout (not so much these days of course, but the schedule after the news can be totally different!)
I could go on (and on) about other things - spinning circles, juddering DVR playback etc etc.
Agreed; @sa2000 is working hard on this but he has several countries and appears to be alone. All he can do is check/research the problems and pass on the data to the provider.
It appears that no-one is acknowledging the overall problem and dealing with that.
I messaged @elan 5-6 months ago and got a response. However it was quite general and when I asked for specifics he didn’t respond.
To me, that means he is aware of the issue and either does not know how to fix it, doesn’t agree with it, hopes it will just go away or any combination of those things..
I agree, @sa2000 is working as hard as possible! Didn’t realise they did several countries! They have been the only person to respond to my UK DVR issues.
I’m guessing when you fill out the form, any UK issues maybe just get sent to @sa2000 to investigate, then report. Then onto the provider to fix, hopefully.
Any DVR related issue is sent to @sa2000 … Germany seems to be rather small user wise, while UK and especially the US seem to be bigger markets.
And btw.: if you follow him in the forums, he does not only deal with DVR issues. So a huge amount of issues + only a share of his time + a provider that also needs to act = issues take long until being actually fixed.
That is the state of Plex DVR in 2020…
If you are unhappy, you can try Emby’s service. They provide the guide for the UK, US and Canada powered by gracenote, the provider Plex also used to work with. People claim that things were better with Gracenote then they are now (I can’t tell).
I don’t know if they react to guide issues at all, since I am out of the region to receive a guide from them.
Oh yeah I know. He’s helped me with many different issues. Was just stating he has been the only Plex Staff member who’s helped with my DVR/EPG issues.
Thanks for that. I can 100% say the new provider is better than at launch, but still having slight issues I notice every so often.
My experience with Gracenote was much better. Thanks for another DVR option, I think it was @JCHH who gave a suggestion too. Will keep both in-mind if I do give up
I’ve tried Emby a few times but can’t quite get into it.
NextPVR? …it’s free, works well and allows me to continue to use Plex as the player. The EPG is provided by SchedulesDirect which isn’t expensive at $25/yr and has a 7 day free trial so nothing to lose by giving it a go.
Sadly live TV/DVR is just another one of the good ideas from Plex that started off well and then got almost abandoned
I can understand some of the smaller channels having issues still, but having wrong data for the main channels (BBC1 & ITV) is just ridiculous after the new provider has been live for at least 7 months, it’s obvious they dont do any quality control on the data
I would love to know which country has better data with TiVo
Minor issue, can someone check the epg for ITV News at lunch time, apart from having a dodgy date, mine is mentioning UTV Live so looks like i am getting the Northern Ireland data (I am in the North East, Tyne Tees Region)
Edit: rereading dont understand data, news starts at 13:30 and has a UTV update at 12:50
I don’t know how it is behind the scenes, I can only tell who I see in the forum and that is only him. So probably there are several people working at Plex DVR, but gathering and passing on of issues I only see him.
Dogs Behaving (Very) Badly was due to an error in EPG data provided by Channel 5 that was corrected afterwards - initially the feed from channel 5 had Episode 2 for 21 January
We have an ongoing issue raised with our provider concerning Home and Away and Neighbours. Soaps are currently not sequenced and would be date based.
There appears to be some inconsistencies where some airings got season numbers and episode numbers - these are being removed to give consistency. At this moment S82 E13 is still showing up for one of the Neighbours episodes and S72 E12 for Home and Away. These should get reset as per all other episodes for these series
Here’s my updated list if it hasn’t been seen already. One error on an airing tomorrow. Thanks again!
006 @ 21:00PM 25th January - Love Island should be S6E14 rather than S6E7 . NEW tag to remain. Episode name change to Unseen Bits #2.
005 , 105 @ 20:00PM 27th January - Traffic Cops should be S5 E18 , rather than S5 E4. NEW tag to remain. All the episodes this year have been marked as S5, which matches other EPG sources.
This is a quirk of how we handle airings that do not give us the original airdate. We will be looking into this area in the near future and would hopefully come up with a better algorithm. It is under discussion at the moment - but there is higher priority work
